The Main Group As Seen From The Rear.

We parted company with the F group somewhere along hale road before the Tonkin Hway lights. We then caught these lights, which then put us 500 metres behind the above group, then a car at the round about split us again, we then regrouped and saw a few more riders up ahead ,Paul, Wal, Anthony and a couple of others they had started their own group its called the playgroup.
We joined up and then at the Forrestfield shops Judd caught us or we caught him I not sure. Lisa went to the front and picked up the pace, we tried rolling thru on hale but he road and drivers made it unsafe we pushed on single file and some pairs.
Kalamunda rd we picked upsome more.
We started a rolling down to Abernathy rd then back to single file to the bypass. Greg and Marcus doing most of the work up front ,while this may be what they want to build up the strenght other riders must push on to the front to work harder. We all need to push ourselves that little bit more each time we ride. Its not a matter of giving someone elses 100 casino online % just yours.
Once onto Guildford road we moved along well, Wal was hanging in there no problem.
As we approached King William street we had dropped two for some reason ,Greg suggested we stop and wait but we decided to push on , I dropped back to find Lisa and one other were also waiting for the other two.
I dropped back to help them they drafted me for a while then past me and left me. I forgive but I never forget. Cycling Etiquette
was discussed at coffee.
I chased these two rascals hoping to insert a pump in at least one of their wheels. We were then passed by the first members of the fast group, straight past not a word was spoken WoW focused or what!I had heard about them but this was the first time I had seen them in full flight. I felt all giddy, I put my pump back in my jersey and went with them. No prisoners are taken with this little group.
We all got home with this part group.
The coffee shop was filled with tension, a certain rider had taken the sprint once again this would be the fourth time although the week before he was beaten by an outstanding effort by a rider much older than him. Words were exchanged I moved my kilo of rocky road to safer position on the table. Dave not naming anyone but if you need any electrical work, any chiropractic work or a anaesthetist try somewhere else for a few weeks.

  1. Dear Much Older Rider,

So sad that you couldn’t handle the pace on Guildford Rd. and had to drop.

Get that crocketed knee rug out for next Saturday we duel again !

  2. I must have missed where you guys were in the sprint… 🙂

We missed catching the main group by one set of lights.. Grrr

I did my usual sit at the back and help drag the rear back to the pack after lights split the group. I think it is better to have some stronger riders at the rear initially as when the group gets split by lights, you have the stronger riders chasing the slower riders down and not vice versa.

Once we arrived at the little hump (ridgehill I have heard it referred to in earlier posts), I decided to move to the front for fear of rolling backwards. Once on the front, I sat and pushed a comfortable speed to the top of the hump, awaiting others to roll through. Alas, upon reaching the top of said hump, I was alone.. I took a sip from my water bottle and proceeded to coast down the other side. Soon Mike W came past so I latched on the back for the rest of the cruise down the hill. By the time we reached the round about we had a few more in tow and I took to the front after the round about to keep the pace up and ensure the number in our lil group were kept down.

We had Judd, Mike W, Jerard, Mr Parlee (James) doing some work whilst Julian and another hitched a ride with us. The ride back into town was uneventful really, I did a fair share of work, Michael W ensured he rolled over me a few times on the way home which had me chasing him down a few times (cheers), likewise with James on the Parlee with his new wheels (his excuse for rolling over me a few times) who I had to chase when he came past and accelerated once through.. Tut tut.. I will have to fry you fellas next time, hopefully I am feeling well enough on Thursday am.

Anyway, coming up to the hill by the police station, there was some congestion and I was blocked in so had to stay with the group over the hill and I stayed with them till riverside drive as I thought there was no point breaking away so soon as I would have been caught by the lights.. I managed to slip down to about 4 wheel I think going onto riverside drive.

James on the Parlee made the initial break and Judd jumped on his wheel (I believe this may have been a plan of sorts), sad thing was I jumped onto Judd’s wheel for the ride.. Perfect.. Nice and cosy for awhile and I was contemplating going and then Judd stood to go past James.. Noice again, I will sit back here for awhile longer. Admittedly Judd’s pace was not as fast as it has been in the past so my ride was made all the more comfortable until I decided to get up and go (by which stage Judd was wishing he had new legs I am sure). I looked back when getting close to the 60km sign and I had a comfortable gap so I sat and flung my arms in all sorts of directions trying to ensure following riders saw my victory flailing..

    As you were..

  3. Ryan,
As long as the stronger riders do not stay there?

    Dear ElPaso,
Thank you for your concern for my long term injury substained while serving my country very touching, your other comment regarding next Saturday, just remember this is not the toy library and I know you think your pretty smart putting Humpty Dumpty back together again but if you want to mix it with me you will need to come to the front of the group!

  4. Stronger riders do not stay where? At the rear? We stay there to do our duties in keeping pack together until we are allowed to go fast, then I move to play at the front and don’t look back for the rest of the ride.

Of course, if you prefer, I can go to front from the start?
