Anyone interested in forming up a ‘not so fast’ SPR team for the Lancelin event on Sunday 18 April – could do either the 50 or the 85klm distances ?.
I realise the SPR guns will probably form up a couple of competitive / winning teams & no way would I be able to hang on the back of that so . . . . maybe some of the Transitioners or more relaxed Intermediate riders might be interested.
I did it last year (in another team) and we averaged around 30 kph for 90 klms with 7 riders.
We would need between 4-9 riders to make up a team.
Riders need to either join BWA (previously Cyclo Sportif) or I think you can get the equivalent of a day license. The emphasis (at my level) is that its a “ team participation” ride – although the fast guys will probably treat it more of race .

I wish I was around- but back at work by then… The Peter Clarke- is that the same course as the ‘HELL OF THE NORTH’??? Nasty nasty… Good luck btw…

Yes I am definitely interested in Cyclo Sportif next Sunday 18th…though more in the 50km rather than the longer stretch.. sorry Tracey…legs can cope just the back hasn’t been broken in to the longer distances yet.. will get there. I can taken one other up to Lancelin with the bikes in the car or 3 others with the bikes on the bike rack. I live in Leeming so can pick up along the way… I need to borrow the trusty old station wagon back from the teenager! Looks like ‘SPR Developers’ have a quorum at 7 takers for the Lancelin Sportif this Sunday. Includes the above four + myself, Gwyn and Tracy . . . . well done folks.
Ruth – Gwyn can lend you her SPR wind vest and she can wear my one of my two tops . . . Leon – great to have you along – matching jerseys would be good, but doesn’t matter if you can’t rip one of the back of another Club member . . . .
Most of the girls have voted (strongly) for the 50 klm ride & weathers supposed to be fine on Sat & Sunday so should be fun.
We can sort out car pooling during the week.
Cost is $65 for non BWA members (new name for Cyclo Sportif). (Gwyn & I are both members).
I have a feeling that I have to sign the team up up with ‘Register Now’ by tomorrow which means that can all of you who are ‘definites’ please email me your full names and email addresses today if you can (Monday). I’ll pay the fees for now and sort out repayment later . . .
