Santos Great Bike Ride 2010

For those not battling it out in the hills for KoM points this Sunday, the Santos Great Bike Ride is on, if you’d prefer a “fun ride around the Swan” (aren’t they all?).. If you’re quick, you’ve probably still got time to register for it.

And yes, I know some of you scoff at the concept of paying money to ride a route most of us do at least once a week anyway… but hey, not all of us have our racing license yet, and the challenge of a timed (‘participation’) event is always nice. Also, some of us are lucky enough to have the entry fee paid for by their employers – win!

If you’re already signed up, leave a note in the comments and let us know which event you’re doing (106km – 2 laps; 52km – 1 lap; 10km – hey kiddies!).. that way we’ll know if there’s likely to be an SPR posse that you can jump in with, as you enjoy your “fun ride around the Swan”.. I, for one, will be doing the 106km event, and would be most appreciative of a friendly wheel to suck! 😉

  2. Yeah I am doing it as well. Just be careful as the route does not go straight on to Canning Hwy after Mill Point Rd but goes around behind Bunnings and through the car park.

I’ll be wearing the Water Corp Jersey, and doing the 106km.

  3. bit concerned about a stack during the sprint in Rivo drive for the 53km ride today – i got described the kit of the guy that went down, and it sounded like SPR gear. Hopefully it’s an incorrect description – anyone able to advise further?

  4. my time didn’t post when i turned off at raffles on the first lap and went home. i probably shouldn’t have even got up for it.

  5. Thanks Michael. Was sucking Nico’s wheel for a fair bit of the first lap then got dropped at Mossman park, and got back on at Stirling Bridge, then dropped at Point Peron Rd hill, then solo until Heathcoate and picked up by the second group. They couldn’t have come at a better time (well they could have come earlier, but anyway…)
