I do but…..I think based on the age groups I am about 25yrs from peaking. Have to build up slowly to these things.
interesting, as bwa are organising the race, and they said that the course had not been finalised yet.
i am intending to have a go this year. anyone else in the 35-39 age bracket that wants to play???
they might re do some of the roads in kings park, that would be nice
I am now thinking of giving it a crack, will be the 40-44 age group thou.
At least they start off in waves, so the fact that you’re getting dropped by your own age group won’t be quite so obvious.
@Peter, I might be tempted to give it a whirl. My last chance in that age bracket 🙁
SPR rider/s representing the club at Finals in Belgium – now that would be cool!
Top 10% are in, top 20% have a chance to be in. So everyone should give it a crack.. including recovering cripples.
Yeah I’ll give it a go 35-40 age group
If that’s the course then there’s a fair-sized hill from riverside up to kings park. Don’t fancy getting dropped in the first 1km haha.
Awww it skips mount stret
this might be the new monday morning earlybird ride route. (except the city section, go past mounts bay hospital instead)
I’ll be giving the 50 – 55 age group a crack (hopefully to be joined by Stu). Zac is right about the course through Kings Park though; some pretty uncomfortable sections with speed bumps to be negotiated down the lower reaches of May Drive. The corner to get back onto Mounts Bay Rd will also be tricky at speed. Good idea to practise it during the week.
I plan to compete in the 40-44 age group, it’s a rare opportunity so I encourage people to have a go. And I’m with you Pete – repeats of Spring-Malcolm-Lovekin Drive…gotta be able to do it 8 times 🙂 And don’t forget there is a 20km time trial held on Rottnest on the Thursday – for those of you who haven’t riden over there for a while it’s not flat.
I would suggest having children before doing a TT at rottnest, the surface there is similar to riding off road.
ill in for both. been in aus for 6 month and still havent got to rotness, no excuses now. Def think riding the route would help heaps. Nothing like 9 weeks of conditioning for that one particular course lol
