Just a reminder to get your lights out of the cupboard, replace the batteries of purchase some new lights.
I have been dissappointed to see the number of people getting around with insuffficient or no lights on their bikes now that the days are getting shorter. It’s a little sad to see people riding bikes that
are worth thousands of dollars with no lights whatsoever or a $20 light that you can’t see from 20m away.
To put things in perspective think about this: a vehicle travelling at 50km/h will require something like 25m to stop. Given a perception and reaction time of 1.25s the vehicle will travel something like 17m before swerving or braking begins.
Whilst you can see what’s happening in front of you and perhaps avoid any problems, a nice bright tail light or two will give a driver more time to assess their options and therefore reduce your risk of getting struck from behind.
Safe riding.
As you go past anyone that hasn’t got lights on, just say “Lights” to them. If everyone does it, they will soon get the message and get lights because they are sick of hearing it, or get lights because they have finally realised that no-one can see them.
I want some of those bright head lights.I can’t see jack on my way to all the early morning rides.
Suggestions from people who have the bright headlights.
Would be good for a new member deal Peter 🙂
invest in a good set of Ayups.
they are worth it.
Do you have the sports ones?

Exposure Joystick (from Wiggle).
x2 on the Ay ups, brilliant lights! You get what you pay for, with kits starting at $231
What Scott & Breedy said; Ay Up!
Australian made too.
Ay Up’s are fantastic. I use mine mainly for night-time mountain biking. The battery is amazingly small for the amount of power/time that you get.
(p.s. don’t let the Australian Made part put you off, they really are good quality hahaha).
Ay up’s are great but if you want a cheaper option

Agree with Daniel – Exposure Joystick from Wiggle – decent beam and have had mine for ages – it’s had a right hammering and still good as new, prob cos British made? hehehehe ..

Good Alternative to Ayup would be Stella 400 from Light & Motion (via Wiggle). Very good lights only downside will be a UK plug.
