I thought I’d pass information on the following ride(s) coming up on the weekend of Friday 28th & Saturday 29th October.
Last year PCS and Bike Force Joondalup put on a series of popular distance rides under the heading of “Rhodes Roads” – They encouraged new and existing riders to push beyond their respective 100k and 200k limits.
They are re-visiting one of those rides in 2011. There are two options:
- 200k – Bunbury to Deep Water Point (DWP) setting off 8am (heading North in the hope of more favourable wind conditions)
- 300k – Busselton to Mindarie setting of 7:00am (merging with Bunbury 200k group at 9:00am in Australind)
Riders merge just outside Bunbury in Australind and complete rest of ride together.
- The routes will be predominantly country roads taking us through Australind, Harvey, Yarloop and Peel to Mandurah, with good surfaces – And the freeway cycle carpet rolls out of Mandurah to DWP. Main road travel is minimal – and we’ll consider the use of support vehicle cover for these 2 busier stretches.
- 300k riders will continue along Freeway path to Perth and then head coastal up to Mindarie covering the additional 50k (+50k from Busso to Bunbers’)
- Re-group at Mindarie Key for a celebration of the day and a cooooool Ale to re-hydrate.
The idea is to ride together in manageable (read safe and similar in speed) groups, with vehicle support. Transport for all belongings, first aid, spares, water, snacks etc.will be provided.
