Well the second BWA Cyclo Sportif for 2012 is only a couple of weeks away…whoo hoo!!! With between 600-800 people taking part it’ll be a great opportunity for those that are interested to fly the SPR flag and simply have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
Here’s the information:
Date: Sunday, 29th April 2012
Location: Rockingham (kick off from Safety Bay Primary School)
Distances: 60kms or 100kms
Start time: 9:00am
Many of you have already indicated your interest in taking part. Thus, we’ll be looking for put together a team for each of the distances.
I’ll be registering the teams on Monday, 23rd April 2012 so if you’re keen to take part indicate so in the comments section below ensuring you record the distance you’d like to give a bash…including those people that have already told me.
http://www.bwa.org.au/events/588/
Count me in for the 100.
just so you know, ndcc will be hosting the peter clark classic on the same day. A Grade Men (109.2km), B Grade Men (78km), A Grade Women (78km), C Grade Men (62.4km), Support Women’s (46.8km)
Thanks Pete but I’m sure you’re aware that there are some of us that prefer to do it in groups. I guess that’s why Jordan was so quick to throw his keys, whoops I mean hat in the ring rather.
Groups do it better.
i’m keen!
i never wanna go back to chittering ever again :-/
oh yeah forgot to say. 100km for me. save me a spot 🙂
also keen 🙂 chittering is further than gidgegannup!! XD
Yeah, but Chittering is easier to pronounce
😉
And the hills are shorter, less steep and come less often. Some of it is even flat.
I’m up for it Amanda. If it’s anything like the last one, it’ll be great.
100kms obviously!
Hi Amanda, looks like a lot of fun, fun, fun. Count me in….I’m happy with both 60 and 100km
Yep, count me in for the 100km.
this is a sunday so YES IM IN for the 100
Hi 🙂 There is a group created and called ‘SPR Chasers’ which you can join in if you’d like to do the 60 kms. I didn’t create it personally but I have been told to join so I did! If you are interested you are more than welcome to 🙂
I’m keen for the 100…someone needs to be there to fix punctures! 🙂
i’ve chucked the Rubino Pro out and gone back to the GP4000s… fingers crossed 🙂
Numbers are looking great guys. Looks like we’ve got a team for the 60km distance team (i.e. SPR Chasers), plus a full team of 9 for the A distance. I’ve had a few other people tell me verbally that they’re keen so will keep things open ’til the 23rd April as I stated in the original blog before registering the 100 kms distance. We may end up having two teams for the A distance which would be great!!!
Hi Amanda, can you put me down for a spot in a team doing the 100k…
Ta
Whoo hoo will do Dale. We’ve got a couple of others too now…Cath and Neil (potentially) for the 100km and Cara for the 60kms. Is there more space in the ‘SPR Chasers’ Carol/Jess?
I don’t think Cara will be doing it now but yes I am pretty sure we have plenty of spots left in SPR Chasers so please put your names down 🙂
SPR Chasers (60km) has been set up by Vicky B from the Saturday Developer group; currently 4 are enroled; Vicky B; Jess M; Amanda H and myself. Good distance for the group…. always enjoy the Cyclos…great day out… cheers Carol
Thanks Amanda for the organising, I am willing to do the 100km 🙂 I should have recovered from the 3 Dams by then.
Great Amanda, I will go for 100km. Will register as soon you set up a ‘SPR Mixed Nuts’ team
Yep yep…I’m still keen to roll a ride in rockingham
Hi, I would like to join in for the 100km please!
John Phillips would like a ride in the 100km distance.
G’day Guys
Well it’s looking’ like we’ve got 16 people interested in riding the 100kms distance for the cyclo and this combined with Carol’s crew it’s looking like there will be approximately 20 SPR people flying the SPR flag on the day…whoo hoo!!!
Ali and I have put together some teams, choosing to name them after a famous cycling region around the world…the Pyrenees and the Dolomites . It was a little tricky putting the teams together but hey I’m sure we can mix it up a little on the day if need be. We’ve also tried to give those people that are travelling to the Pyrenees together in July 2012 an opportunity to ride together…a little bit of bonding time .
Could everyone please get onto the BWA website and register in the teams as featured below:
https://www.bwaregistrations.org.au/

As you can see we’ve got a couple of space left…one in each team. Thus, if anyone else wants to join in with the fun…just give those a that are confirmed (as above) a chance to register and then feel free to add your name.
The plan will be for all of us to meet up as a club on the day, prior to the cyclo kicking off. I’ll post this information closer to the event.
Looking forwards to having some FUN, FUN, FUN on our bikes :-).
Thanks Amanda! (great names too!).
Thanks Amanda for organising!
umm… i hope i’m not doing it wrong but when i go to the bwaregistrations website it says that registrations are now closed?! 🙁
Yet it’s still possible to enter the 5 Dams! Let’s all do that instead.
thats for 2013 jordan! XD
oh noo!!!
from BWA FB Page
“Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Rockingham Community Challenge. More details will be available soon.”
Yep you’re right Jason…BUMMA!!! Apparently the City of Rockingham made it impossible in the end for BWA to run the event due to continued obstacles presented.
BWA will be organising refunds for those who registered in the next couple of days.
It’s great that so many of you were up for the challenge and keen to have a bit of fun together whilst flying the SPR flag.
Fingers crossed many of you will be keen to give the next one a crack, this being on Sunday, 17th May 2012 in Kalamunda. I’ll do some research and pop up a blog posting in early May.
Thanks again all and please accept my apologies for any inconvenience it’s cancelation may have caused.
Thanks for organising it all.
A true social director would now schedule a trip to the pub for all the would be riders 🙂
I think you mean Sunday 27th May 2012.
it will be interesting to see what BWA can put on in kalamunda that weekend as josh is running his tour of kalamunda at the same time.
Don’t be downhearted (and let all that training go to waste). Come up to the Chittering Valley and ride the Peter Clark Classic races. There are men’s races to C grade and women’s elite plus support.
Yes. Registrations are definitely OK for this. I’m in for the B Grade race and hope to see many a SPR rider there – even the flat earth society members who were going to do the cyclo!!
urgh…i guess i’ll register for the Peter Clark Classic. i really shouldn’t let Chittering Valley beat me should i.
at least this time around it won’t be 40 degrees, humid, windy, getting blinded by sweat in my eyes, and choking on flies on the climb. no…this time it’ll probably be driving hail and rain.
can you tell how much i’m looking forward to this haha!
