Last year’s BWA Swan Valley Cyclo Sportif was a sea of green and black with the event attracting a record number of SPR folk…50 members across 7 teams…oh yeah!
The Social Sub-Committee this year is hoping for a repeat of last year’s event in terms of participant numbers, camaraderie and fun shared on the day.
Event Information
Date: Sunday, 30 June 2013
Time: Ride starts at 9:00am
Venue: Venues West Speed Dome, Midvale
Ride categories: A – 5 laps (80km), B – 4 laps (64km), C – 2 laps (32km)
Cost: $60 for BWA members and $85 for non BWA members (includes the ride, lunch and VIP trackside seating at the Midvale Speed Dome for Track Cycling WA’s Winter Grand Prix)
To get the ball rolling we are looking to recruit a pool of ‘Ride/Team Leaders’. The role of a Ride/Team Leader can be seen here: http://www.bwa.org.au/events/178/
If you’re keen to be a Ride/Team Leader on the day please leave a response below that outlines as a minimum the ride category you’re interested in and the average speed you’re likely to have the team travelling at (i.e. Joe Bloggs – A grade, 38km/ph).
Ride/Team Leader nominations will be closed off on Wednesday, 5th June 2013 and then the hunt for team members will begin…whoo hoo!!!
Jason Gordon – B grade, main 1.5 (35km/h)
+1 with you, Fearless Leader.
You putting your hand up again Jordan? I thought our team did pretty well last year.
Except for registering a time when we crossed the line!!
Yeah, I wasn’t gonna mention that
Yes, I will probably be doing it, and happy to act as a team leader, but I will be nowhere near a timing band. They don’t like me, and I don’t like them.
chyeah!
So, is there a team in here somewhere?
I’d join!
But i won’t be here. 🙁
Work asked if I wanted to go to Canada or Centerlink.
Hi Amanda,
Please put my name down.
Most likely B grade – 30 km/hour
I already have initiated creating a team but I will confirm on who joins my team!
Thanks!
That’s a great photo. Hadn’t seen it before – well done whoever it was that managed to organise that shot.
Hi Amanda, I will put my hand up as Team Leader for Fast Group (that does mean everyone else on the team would be working for me yeah??)..
do we want to go full retard and take 8x TT bikes this year?
Or 9?? With disks and Aero helmets?? Only allowed on the team in the new Carbon TT suit.. 😉
+1 for 80km team TT 😉
Hi Amanda, put me down to either help out as a leader if you are short, or otherwise just as rider. A Grade and Main 1 pace if you are organising it that way I guess? Peter
How about an over 45s team to give the youngsters a hurry-up? If I can get out of the soccer linesman roster (Wembley U17 girls) for that weekend, I’m happy to organise a Masters 4 and above team if there is interest.
If the fast group pinch Jerry, I’m happy to raise the age higher. A very even team that doesn’t tear each other’s legs off and uses their natural patience and wisdom could go far, methinks.
Cyclist!! Natural patience!! Don’t tear each other’s legs off!!
Hmm, I don’t think these concepts are usually associated with each other…
Give it another 10 years or so – then you will.
Sometimes I wish the SPR Blog had a “like” button! 🙂
I’m up for joining or leading a Team for the A Grade (80kms). Main 1.5 ish…
We managed 33.7kmh last year so hopefully around 34-35 kmh this year.
Graham
I am also keen to do b grade at around 30km/hr- Happy to lead or to follow??
Keen to join Team Andrew 🙂

Put me down for ride/team leader for the “B” distance, average speed 28 to 30kph. Don’t be mistaken, there is a bit of riding at 32kph to average that speed. Prefer regular riders from the Transitional group to have a go.
I’m up for “A” distance, I reckon I can handle 32-33k average (main 2 – 1.5 ish). I can join or lead, as required.
Now that the team leaders have been ‘volunteered’, where do I sign to join a team?
