ride routes are out early today as i am home looking after #1 son who was sick last night. a few years ago i used to love having a day off midweek as that meant that i could head out solo on the bike to to crack out a metric tonne or climbs some hills that we don’t do on sundays. however, those types of things pale into insignificance when compared to watching your kid ride a bike unassisted for the first time; seeing them get out of the saddle for their first “climb”; get told to make the ride longer, just so they can hit 20kms for the first time. #1 son also got his first road bike this year with the intent of having a go at the tech park crits over the summer. don’t be outdone by an 8 year old. get out there and make your own “firsts”.

collie donnybrook race – coming up in a couple of weeks is the collie to donnybrook return handicap race. this is one of the monuments of western australian cycle racing and should be experienced at least once. see more info here.
single speed/fixie ride – some of the guys in the club want to do a single speed ride. it is not till the end of the month so it gives you some time to source a single speed or fixie bike. see more info here.
the beverley heroic – back in the day, there used to be a race from beverley to perth. nowadays, the logistics of these types of races make to very difficult to accomplish so what has been revived is somewhere in between. also, to relive some of that past history, there is an option to do the event on an old time bike. to add to that, some of the roads are dirt. spr will be supporting this event and we will need to source some volunteers. if you can provide a volunteer, then your entry is free. see the previous post for details.
tour of the murray river – a few of our female members went over to compete in this race. check out their write up here.
lighthouse to lighthouse – if anyone is interested in doing an organised ride down south, the lighthouse to lighthouse ride is coming up. see the previous post for more details and leave a comment if you are thinking of heading down.
cape to cape mtb race – nigel is hosting a few training rides for anyone interested in doing the cape to cape mountain bike race in october. see the previous post for more details.

Haddrill Road for Sunday long hills – fantastic choice, Pete. (Bunch size may just have reduced itself by half).
wanted to get it in before the weather got too hot.
aahhh Haddrill – I remember Jonny K showing me that loop a few years back during the Swan Valley Sportif. I distinctly recall wishing I had a 27 tooth cog – 39×25 was a grind.
