the australian cycling nationals are on this week in ballarat and there are a couple of spr riders competing. this is for the cream of australian cycling, but remember that they all had to start somewhere. as a
club, we try to provide a pathway to allow our riders to develop their skills and fitness. i can still remember when jono and jules first came along to spr and it has been a pleasure to see how they have developed.
ride leaders – support the club and help us become ambassadors for the sport in the public eye. put your name down as ride leader to ensure that the group ride is safe and organised. sign up here.
ride leaders sponsorship – this months ride leaders are proudly sponsored by Allused, Commercial Equipment. please see the previous post detailing what they provide and we thank them for encouraging our members to step up as ride leaders. ride leaders will receive a $10 Dome voucher to be used after the saturday ride. if you have a business that you want to promote to our members, check out the previous post to both promote your business and help out the club.
membership reminder – there have been a couple of traffic incidents with our members at the start of this year. remember that if you have a race licence, it expired at the end of the calendar year. this could mean that you are riding around uninsured. recreational licence expire at the end of quarters, so check your membership card. see the previous post for more details.
twilight crit series – want some midweek crit racing??? check out the previous post for details.
beginner ladies session – at the end of january, spr will be holding the next free ladies beginners skills session. this is aimed at ladies that have been reluctant to take that next step and come out riding in a group environment. if you know someone like that, please forward this onto them and invite them along. leigh and a couple of the other experienced ladies will take them through a number of riding skills and will finish up at the coffee shop for a brew. mroe info can be found on the previous post.
new 2015 spr cycle kit – sorry for the delay in ordering the new kit. there were a few issues with the online ordering that we needed to get sorted out before we went live. hopefully it will be up soon, please keep an eye on the blog for links once they are up. see the previous post for more details.
uwct training ride – this will now be a regular fixture on our sunday mornings until the event at the end of march. starting at 6am to avoid the traffic, this is a ride for those intending to do the uwct qualifier. after our initial ride last week, i would say that this is a ride for experienced hills riders. the pace is fast and the hills are long. if you are thinking of doing the uwct event, but are not at the sunday long hills ride pace yet, i would recommend that you start with the sunday short hills ride first. more info can be found on the previous post.
