congratulations to paul and francine on the arrival of little elliot. goodbye to bikes and home brew and hello to nappies and feeding. 🙂 its been a while since we have had an spr baby (i.e. both parents ride with us) and i think that kizzi’s twins were the last ones. i fully expect that the twins would be close to running marathons by now. paul and francine now get to add a bike seat, balance bike and kids trailer to the bike collection.
ride leader sponsor – the ride leader sponsor for august is Life Ready Physio & Pilates South Perth who are back as a second time sponsor. A number of our members already utilise the services provided by Life Ready Physio & Pilates South Perth as they are conveniently located in South Perth.
rules of engagement – please read the previous post if you come out on any of our rides. it is up to all members to enforce these rules.
kit delivery – the latest kit order is available for collection by emailing kit@southperthrouleurs.com.au to organise a time. alternatively you can purchase a “post my kit” option in our online shop and get it sent out to you.
swan valley photos – the club organised for tony lendrum to take photos at this years cyclo-sportif at swan valley. the photos are now available to download from this website for you to use as you wish. use the multimedia tab on the menu or click on this link.
collie-donnybrook – in 1925 on a typical collie winter’s day a small field of enthusiastic young cyclists pedalled their way through rain and hail over a rough, gravel bush road in the longest cycle race held by the collie cycle club (ccc) in its short history. if you want to be part of history, there are limited spots left, as entries close midnight tonight.
the beverley – this is just a heads up for more information to come soon. the beverley race returns in conjunction with the beverley heroic. this race will be run by spr and will be a similar format to the collie-donnybrook. more info and entries can be found here, but there will be a blog post to follow soon.
tour of margs spr riders – the riders that have nominated for this years tomr have now been announced. teams will be determined from this list to give the best balance of abilities in each team. as with previous years, there are usually a few people dropping out due to sickness/injury/family/work so a couple more on the reserves list will not hurt. check out the previous post for more details and let the all powerful race committee know if you are interested.
bike swap meet – later this year perth will be hosting the pacific youth track cycling tournament. this event will actually cost quite a bit to hold and as such midland are organising a bike swap meet to raise funds. if you have any old bike parts that you think still have value, then you can register to sell them at this event. on top of this, it will be held at the velodrome this friday while track racing is one. buying bike stuff and watching bike racing. what more can you ask for. click on the flyer pic to the right for more details.
uwct training – the new uwct grand fondo course has been annouced and as such we will be running training rides on sunday. this will replace the normal long hills ride and will be a race pace ride for those that have qualified and those that just want a hard hit out. check out the previous post for more details.
uwct volunteers – to run a race as big as the uwct grand fondo final takes a lot of people covering a lot of ground. currently they are looking for volunteers for the 4th september to work as road race marshals. if you are available to help out on the day, sign up here or contact the race organiser for more information. we will be looking for spr specific volunteers later for the feedzone.
spr road race champs – the club road champs has been updated after the second pickering brook race. if you have raced in any of the races listed, see how you are tracking in club points. the leaderboard can be found in the menu above or here.
ride routes – although it is absolutely bucketing down as i type this, the weather for the weekend is looking mighty grand. for a change, the rain is during the week and we have a dry weekend to ride. take advantage of it and get some big k’s in.
