so i finally got around to watching the all for one movie this week (on a qantas flight of all places). i must say that it was an awesome movie and it really showed the amount effort and dedication that these guys put into their job. quite an emotional movie too, and it must have been the aircon on the plane or something, but it seemed to blow some dust in my eyes a few times. these guys are doing what they love, getting paid for it, but it obviously cost them a lot (physically and emotionally) as well. we are lucky enough to also be doing what we love and perth weather means that we can do it more often then most places. set some goals and ride hard to achieve them.

pemberton classic – The Pemberton Classic 2018 is on the march labour day long weekend, you get to ride your bike, and there’s a brewery. registrations now open and with accommodation starting to book out for the long weekend, you should get in quickly. the spr race committee will be there with the van and the support kit of tents, flags, jon hanson’s exceptional stories and poodle’s squeaking turkey. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. spr post here.
club survey results –we have previously posted the results of last years club survey. this is used by the committee to set the direction of the club for the next year or so. the previous post was just the numerical driven data, i.e. what percentage selected each option. there were a number of places where people could input comments on various topics plus a general comments section at the end. we have collated all these comments and have provided replies to as much as we could. as you can appreciate, there were a lot of places to add comments so there are a lot of replies. every single comment is included for transparency sake. i believe that everyone in the club deserves to be heard, not matter if it is positive or negative. the comments and replies have been spread over five different posts – club & safety, kit, racing & volunteering, social and general. please take the time to have a look through and the associated replies. some comments have been replied to directly, while others have been wrapped up in a topical discussion.
saturday start locations – we have revamped the group start locations on saturday morning. please have a look at the map so you know where your group will congregate. this makes it easier for ride leaders to give you a briefing before the ride starts. see the previous post for more details.

I am completely new to Australia, to Perth, and to the group.
But I would like to join a group for some recreational rides.
Knowing nothing about your avg speed and levels, I am interested to join a ride on Saturday morning, but not sure which one. 5.30 or 7.00? Development/Transitional? I guess ‘Fast’ will be too fast for me. A bit out of shape…
Can anyone offer some help?
Thank You. Andrew.
Hi Andrew
The 5:30 on Saturday is fast. They go around the river in 1hr 30min. I suggest 7:00 group ride. Its best you start in the Development group so that you get to know group riding skills, roll through procedures, calling out terminology. etc.
Regards Mike..
Great Mike. Thank you. I will start there.
Yes, I need to know all the rules here…
I only feel a bit too old (50) for ‘development’, but I guess there is no age limitation to learn and develop 🙂
Never to old to learn. I started with SPR at 52 so there’s hope.
