There as been lots going on this week. We’ve had rouleurs away over east at Amy’s last weekend, some participating in the Act Belong Commit Dwellingup 100 locally and the AusCycling Masters & Junior Road National Championships running all this week. And with some huge results. If you didn’t see yesterday’s Wednesday’s Racing Recap, check it out. Also see some photos also below.
We also have rouleurs away in the upcoming weeks, in particular this weekend in Trento for the 2022 UCI Gran Fondo Worlds.
For those of us at home, with any sort of luck we will have at least some dry weather this weekend. Not to mention the opportunity for some extra kms on Thursday’s Public Holiday Ride.
On a more serious note, with the launch of our Jarrahdale Team Time Trial, we also have opportunities for volunteering. Or to put it another way, we could really use a little of your help. If you would like to race, or you can help as a volunteer, see below for all the details.
Finally, check out the update from our rouleurs participating in the MACA200 Ride.
See you out on the bike.
Daniel
SPR Jarrahdale Team Time Trial — We are very pleased to announce that entries are open to SPR’s Jarrahdale Team Time Trial for 2022.
It is perfectly placed as preparation for the Tour of Margaret River, and will run in Shire of Jarrahdale on the same challenging 30km course as last year. The course is undulating and includes a total of 440m of climbing — designed to provide riders with a very similar experience to Day 1 at the Tour of Margaret River.
The time trial is open to teams of 6 riders (minimum of 4 ) with the team time taken from the 4th rider crossing the finish line. Teams will be released on regular intervals of between 1 and 2 minutes depending on number of teams entered.
All the details on Facebook and tickets on EntryBoss.
If you have any questions, get in touch via our Facebook page or on race@southperthrouleurs.com.au.

The Photo Collection — some of these you will have seen before, some not. Either way, its very good to see green out on the bike in some exotic and challenging locations 💚
First up, Adam Ralph sporting National Kit in Trento. In his own words:
“it’s such a treat to be here in Trento, the excitement is building and we an see more and more National kits out on the roads. Here’s me in mine, kudos to Mayeur for the great looking design and top quality make.”
And some photos from the week just gone 😎

Sprockets MACA Ride Update — Next month SPR Ride Leaders, Bree, Greg & Faye will be participating in the MACA200 Ride which raises money for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Medical Institute (HPMI). The team has been busy with a number of initiatives to raise money.
In the main fundraising event held in June, they launched a ‘Sprockets’ jersey that was able to purchased, with profits going to HPMI. This jersey has now arrived, so expect to see a few of these in the cycling pelotons over the next few months. The Team is delighted to advise they have raised over $15,000 towards cancer research and wanted to send a big shout out to the SPR community for their support.
Whilst it is too late to purchase a jersey, if you haven’t had a chance to contribute and you would like to donate towards valuable research into cancer treatments and cures, you can click on the following link.

From the Ride Coordinator — Welcome to our recently-qualified ride leaders Mandy, Greg, Maurice, Jane and Tom. These good people volunteer their time for the RL training and ride leading, so please help them make the ride a safe and fun experience for all by paying attention to what they have to say before and during the ride.
It also helps them if you’ve checked the route prior, and you ride with a group the matches your ability on the day. While Sunday rides don’t have official ride leaders, it’s still best to ride with a group that you’re comfortable with. There is now a social hills group leaving after “short hills” that does the short hills route, but at a slower pace, and with more time allowed for regrouping. Perfect for those less familiar with hills rides, or just wanting an easier ride. Long hills is generally a stronger group with more distance and climbing, but still having regroup points.
Whichever you choose, have fun.
