Ride Routes 14 – 20th September

This week playing a little catchup on results and photos from recent races. I don’t have full results for the State Champs nor lots of photos for the Midland race, but read on for what I do have πŸ™‚ Thanks to Peel and Midland for putting on these races.

First up, the State Champs (Junior/Kermesse/Para) from 31 August. We had a number of riders in the race with lots of SPR members on the podium πŸ’šπŸ’ͺ🏻. Sending a shoutout to Claudia Firmani, Casey Bunton, Toby Brown, Shirley Dow-Vine and Corrie Johnstone. I’ve not seen an official results list but there are a whole lot of photos on Peels’ Facebook page – check them out here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

Last week it as the Pickering Brook Road Race run by Midland. SPR had a number of riders competing – check out the podium photos here and full results here. Congratulations to Sophia Sammons for taking out out 2nd in the Women’s A Grade, and a special mention to Kate Bonner in 4th in what looks to have been a solidly contested finish.

Well done to all!

Finally, a shout-out to anyone heading to the Bike it to Ballidu (https://ballidugravel.com.au) next weekend for some gravel action.

See you out on the bike.

Daniel

Juniors Ride β€” This Saturday offers us great weather for a morning ride. Let’s meet at 10:00 AM in Shelley at our usual meeting spot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/EqqgtLwv5CKEWWuc6. Our focus will be on bunch riding skills as we navigate the stretches of Riverton Dr. Next weekend I will be at Ballidu with my daughter to ride the 46km gravel trails.

There is still time to register if you are interested (https://ballidugravel.com.au/), but I will not be able to run the junior session. On the 28 September X-Speed organised a junior racing day out of the Velodrome (see Facebook and Entryboss). This is also a very nice opportunity ofr our kids to test the legs.

From the Ride Coordinator β€” The weather looks promising for this weekend, which will help those preparing for future events. Take the opportunity to check your bike, so that your ride isn’t interrupted by a mechanical issue.

Please note that the Camel sectors will be ridden in different directions for this Sunday’s hills ride: short (clockwise) and long (anticlockwise).

Please note, the development group currently runs 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

IMPORTANT: We have changed the start time of our Sunday Hills rides back to our winter time of 7am. Take note πŸ₯Ά
