Hi all,
So you may have seen the posts on social media (!!) regarding the Nationals, but I’ve not yet got to writing up a summary of the close to the Nationals from an SPR perspective – from amazing results in the Masters crits, a huge turnout and some great results in the Fondo, to the Road Race itself which saw SPR member Sophia Sammons podium in the Under 23s and locals Luke Durbridge and Cassia Boglio podium in the Elite Mens and Womens races.
Keep you eye out for a write-up next week capturing in particular the Masters Crits and Fondo results. And while you’re waiting, check out the latest Press Room Nationals update below.
In the midst of the Nationals, we’ve also seen the wrap-up of the RCCC Twilight World Champs this Tuesday just gone, with three SPR members on the podium for the overall series (podium photos below):
- Mathew Wardynec – 1st place, B Grade
- Elar Kalda – 3rd place, B Grade
- John Ingham – 1st place, D Grade
If you were thinking about a Europe trip for 2025, please see below a callout to fill the final two places in our Italy trip later this year.
And sending a shoutout to SPR members heading to the Tour Down Under this week.
See you out on the bike.
Daniel
SPR Italy Trip 2025 — We’ve had a great response to the EOI and the trip is on! Two places left in fact! Details below including link to EOI.
The Italian and Swiss Alps are calling all cyclists and partners. Ever wanted to conquer Passo dello Stelvio (image above), Passo del Gavia + Mortirolo out of Bormio, or out of Lake Como Lugano loop, Passo Agueglio, Giro del Lago di Como, Madonna del Ghisallo + Muro di Sormano. And why not try the Albula pass + Julierpass in Switzerland out of St Mortiz. This is a centre based, escorted trip including all transfers – nothing left to plan.
Only sixteen places are available for this trip 16th to 30th August 2025 – the tour starts and finishes at Milan Airport and includes 1 night Milan, 5 nights Bormio, 2 nights St Mortiz and 6 nights Lake Como. Bring your own bike or hire a high spec road bike or road e-bike – this trip suits all levels of cyclist with the road e-bike option.
The cost is $6,250 per person double occupancy; single supplement $1900, quality bike hire $900. This is excellent value for a fully supported trip with a van for luggage/bike transfers, sag wagon, mechanic and a European guide.

Please register your interest to participate via this non-binding EOI.

From the Ride Coordinator — The action this weekend shifts to Adelaide for the Tour Down Under, following the conclusion of a fantastic Road Nationals in Perth. We wish our Aussie riders all the best and safe riding for those of you travelling over to support your heroes.
Having the ride route uploaded on your computer, or in your head will contribute to a safe group ride. It greatly reduces the chance of a wrong turn – negatively impacting the group.
