I have been riding a cheap SS to work a couple of times a week for the last few months. I had really been enjoying the riding and chatting with other SS guys that you pass. Towing people with gears up the freeway is also amusing.

This inspired me to convert an old euro steel frame that I had been hoarding into a better SS. So I sold my other SS and its 4kg wheelset and have just about finished my build. (I need to watch a few more youtube videos on wrapping bar tape)

This had me thinking that there must be others out there with SS’s, and that it might be fun to do a Saturday SS group ride. It could just be a one off, or if it proves popular it could become semi regular.

I was thinking maybe a river loop where we could avoid most of the hills and look to keep it to under 50km. But I’m by no means sold on that route, so open to suggestions. We could set the pace based on who turns up.

Not wishing to discriminate against the fixed purists> But given it will be a group ride, I think perhaps we should require a freehub and brakes for everyone’s safety. But let me know your thoughts.

Depending on interest we can arrange a suitable Saturday.
