Jon, I like this idea of splitting the group into SPR/non-SPR riders. However I can see some people getting ants in their pants about this. I know not all SPR folk wear their kit and they might feel excluded if this is called for. I agree that Thursday rides have exploded in volume!! And the quality of riding is very hasty. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to trial it. We just need a ride leader to yell out the instructions once fast group has taken off. For example, split the groups and say the next group needs to wait a few minutes before taking off. Remind them it’s not a chase. But should hold a steady speed….
