Wednesday Training Ride (Holiday hundred + Haddrill) – 7:00am at Coode.
A longer training ride (105km) is planned this Wednesday for those with extra riding time and/or a keenness to prepare for UCI or Dams events. The route will head out initially along the cycle paths before hitting the open road from Bayswater, taking in the scenic delights of Whiteman Park, the Vines, a single climb up the famed Haddrill Road (regroup at the top of Campersic Rd) before sweeping down through the Swan Valley to eventually rejoin the cycle path at Bayswater to take us back to South Perth. It’s a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/948296781/
    Notes:
The ride is largely flat-ish apart from the single climb and pace will be similar to that of a Sunday hills ride or early bird river loop.
Not many potential water stops. Weather is forecast cooler, but bring plenty.
Haddrill Rd is one of the hardest climbs in the Perth hills. If you don’t have a compact crankset, you’ll benefit hugely from a 28 cog (at least) on the back. People have been known to walk the top section…
For those not wanting a religious experience, there is an option of a circuit around the Swan Valley before meeting up with the climbers at the bottom of the Campersic Rd descent.
