With assistance from the club’s First Lady, Kate Mah, we are auctioning off a one-of-a-kind genuine Orica GreenEDGE jersey to raise funds to assist injured Rouleur Cathi Dixon in paying her medical bills.
For those who don’t know, earlier this year Cathi Dixon went on what was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime for this avid cyclist, riding in the Pyrenees and watching the Tour de France. Unfortunately Cathi was injured falling off her bike in the mountains on day three of the trip, and instead of seeing the Tour de France spent 6 weeks in French hospitals. Her injuries included four fractured vertebrae and a severely damaged T8 (that threatened to leave her paralysed), broken ribs, bruised lungs, fractured shoulder and scapula, severe concussion and abrasions. She was able to have spinal surgery in Paris so that she could return to Perth. On her return she spent a further 2 weeks in Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital. Cathi is now on the long road to recovery and it’s highly likely she’ll require further surgery so she can get back on her bike and back into life. Go now to this site to know more about the complete history behind this evolution of this surgery technique.
The jersey is professionally framed and has been signed by 10 of the 12 members of the men’s and women’s medal winning teams that competed in last year’s World Road Team Time Trial Championships, Valkenburg, The Netherlands.
