The SPR Chicks continue to go from strength to strength and this Monday just gone saw a huge turn out for the Ladies Only recovery ride.
If you weren’t already aware of this ride, it meets in Kings Park each Monday at 6am (car park behind Frasers, near the toilets) and gets back by 7am. It’s a very civilized 24km ride at around 25km/hr. The all important coffee afterwards is normally at Riverview Cafe on Mount Street.
All ladies are welcome…the more the merrier! The ride route will hopefully appear under the Club Training/Ride Routes section of this site soon…
For more information on what the SPR Chicks get up to feel free to have a look at their Facebook page – SPR Chicks Facebook Page
It’s time to unveil the much anticipated new club kit for 2015!!!
The club’s kit sub-committee has been working very hard behind the scenes, debating kit philosophy, evaluating suppliers, discussing logistics, and finally working on designs. We’ve done the best job we can and hope that members will be pleased with the direction we have taken.
We are very close to being ready to accept our first orders, but to get the ball rolling, here’s a taste of what you will all be wearing next season.
The new kit will be manufactured by Cannibal. Those of you who have been around for a while will know that this was our previous kit supplier. There were a couple of reasons that we moved away from Cannibal for the last kit but we have been working with them and they have fixed these issues, so we are very pleased to get them back on board.
Cannibal produce a very high quality product, and significantly they make all of their kit here in Australia. The stuff has also proven that it lasts…you’ll regularly see Micheal Bonner getting around in SPR Cannibal kit from five or six years ago!
There will be sizing kit available to try on at our unofficial clubhouse (Dome Westralia Plaza) for the next couple of weeks after our Saturday morning ride. There will also be kit sub-committee members on hand to answer any questions you might have.
Information on ordering will be available within the next fortnight so stay tuned…
Your final opportunity to secure the 2013/14 version of the club kit closes midnight tomorrow…so if you if you are yet to secure your piece of the club’s history get in quick.
Instructions on how to order kit can be found here. Please also remember that in order to purchase kit you must be a club member. Information on how to join the club can be found here, and with certain types of membership if you buy them now they will be valid though until December 2015.
The 2015 version of the club kit will be announced shortly so watch this space…
Just a quick note to point out that the current kit order will be closed off on Monday night, so if you need additional pieces of kit for the Tour of Margaret River this is your chance. Delivery of this order is due in mid-October so it will arrive in time.
It’s also worth thinking about your summer kit needs. Summer IS coming…I promise!
There will be one more kit order this year, closing on November 3, for delivery in mid-December.
Just a quick reminder that the next kit order is closing in about a week (1 July) for delivery in mid-August. Get your order in now by clicking on the link to the right of the page…
Remember that you must be an SPR member in order to purchase and wear our kit.
The SPR traveling party is now safely back in Perth after another epic road trip to Kalgoorlie for the annual Goldfields Cyclassic. Doubtless you will be hearing and reading a number of recounts of some fantastic rides over the weekend with SPR riders putting in some awesome performances, and some of them taking home serious prize money this year!
In the meantime I’d just like to give a shout out and a HUGE thank you to the hardworking volunteers who selflessly gave up their long weekend so that some of us could ride ride our bikes. Without these fantastic people we simply could not have done the weekend with the ease with which it was done.
The next time you see Shaw Goh, Brodie Brown, Cathi Dixon or Suzie Boehmer please congratulate them on doing an amazing job. It is people like these that make SPR the great club that it is!!
