Many thanks to Belinda Evans and Sam Flockhart for braving the wet and wild weather a fortnight ago to come and support the SPR chicks who took part in Race 2 of the Pickering Brook Race Series. Amongst many things on the day the girls did, Belinda and Sam drove the lead car for the race giving the SPR chicks something to chase. Top chicks!

The 2015 Road Race Club Championship results have been updated to include the Pickering Brook Results. Check under the leaderboard tab to see where you are in the competition.
The next race in the club champ series is the second Pickering Brook road race on the 21st of June. Keep an eye on the blog or the Midland Cycle Club facebook page for when entries open. The total number of riders is limited to 200, and 50 in each grade, so get in early and don’t miss out!

Congratulations and well done on a great effort – I think anyone would agree that 160km on a TT bike in those winds, on those roads is a pretty decent “day at the office”!
Oh, and by the way, it was actually 160.8km, so no wonder that last little bit hurt so much! Good job, well done. -

Very well said, Davina. Being on the wrong end of a bike versus car incident really does test one’s physical and mental capacities, but the support of the extended SPR family makes all the difference in promoting the necessary healing.

Hi Amanda,
It it would be worthwhile SPR establishing a separate Safety Sub Committee as well. It is a broad and general focus that we have on safety at present that in my view needs a formal forum for more structured management of safety in all our riding activities. There needs to be more of a focus on accident prevention and the ideal of a “Zero Harm” type ethos. This has been discussed by me in writing with Pete and Leigh recently and needs further consideration. Hope this helps.
