Enjoy the TV Stations this Saturday, it’s a great route – although the actual TV stations are no more and they are being subdivided for expensive multi-storey homes.

Remember Mercantile Lane is blocked and cannot be used for access to Dome Westralia Square (due to a bridge collapse) – so rides finishing at Dome need to go up Mill Street from Mounts Bay Road (eg. Saturday morning 7am group rides).

In the past week alone I have had to deal with the outcomes of two people struck by trains in suburban Perth – the trauma caused to everyone involved, including witnesses was significant. Please don’t risk it.
And yes, I’m soft and made of sugar – my ZWIFT account may get a workout on Saturday. -

Good post – three very good suggestions for helping to make an average rider build herself/himself into a stronger rider.
And of course, a fourth suggestion (not involving Saturday Group Rides) – go to The Track (velodrome) for Monday Night training and Friday Night Racing. That is guaranteed to make you stronger…. -

Nice – well done.
You’ll never have First Race nerves again.
Congratulations. -

I know the bit you mean Craig – I could see it from my high vantage point and I wasn’t going there only for it to end in tears (mine). It was a ‘road to nowhere’….. (and I didn’t want to spend all day cleaning my bike).

I have contacted Jeremy Murray – CEO of BWA regarding the course errors. They have promised to make corrections and update the published courses in the near future.

I believe there is a fault with the map as published by BWA – Hardwick Road does not go through to Weir Road and up the hill to the monster Haddrill Rd climb – it is a dead end. (In case you have downloaded it)
I tried riding the course today as per the BWA map and had to backtrack to Campersic Rd and then Haddrill Rd. I will contact BWA to…[Read more] -

Very good post Pete. Your observation on the vulnerability felt by “non-racing” cyclists / commuters / short trip cyclists, especially in the CBD and at urban hubs where the cycle infrastructure is lacking, is something that many of us don’t often experience because of our inherent confidence and experience level.
It’s a shame in inhibits many…[Read more] -

Well said Doug.
And well summarised El Prez – unfortunately the vocal few are often those who prefer to blame others before looking within.
I come from a slightly different cycling background from the majority of club members (ie track and mtb) – the thing that attracted me to SPR many years ago, and still does is that it doesn’t come with the…[Read more] -

FYI – This matter was reported to Police with accompanying witness details and photos (of car, skid marks etc).
The vehicle involved was confirmed to be a Hire Car.
I have been advised by a senior officer from the Traffic Enforcement Group of WA Police that the driver was identified, was interviewed in the Eastern States and claimed he had…[Read more] -

Congratulations and well done on a great effort – I think anyone would agree that 160km on a TT bike in those winds, on those roads is a pretty decent “day at the office”!
Oh, and by the way, it was actually 160.8km, so no wonder that last little bit hurt so much! Good job, well done. - Load More
