I forgot about the extra competitions as part of the Tom Lowry.
There is a “club” competition awarded to the best performing club over the two days of racing. I’m sure SPR chicks will make up for the boys and bring home the bacon!
There is also a teams competition for the Sunday road race, subject to numbers.
If you are going to race on…[Read more] -

Well said Mike, couldn’t have put it better myself. The new course looks to be a good one for anyone thinking about trying racing for the first time. As a very rough guide, D grade is Main 2 pace, C grade = Main 1 and B grade is similar to Saturday fast.
Remember, the Tom Lowry road race is another of the races that make up the Club Championship…[Read more] -

Oh you are forgetting the magnificent achievement of recently joined member in his brand new kit Bryan Thurstan ( aka poodle) who came a glorious second in D Grade after leaving the lead guy out the front for the whole race presuming the group would just reel him in and then finding in the last few kilometres that they weren’t going to reel him in at all.

Don’t do it for me; do yourself a favour. Get out and enjoy the most challenging road course CycleSport WA currently has to offer.
(P.S. I have no control over what the lovely SPR race committee aka Dave Manners writes in these things). -
Hey guys, I found out that my lift to Gidge may not be as secure as I’d hoped? Is there anyone able to offer me a lift, I live in Greenwood (can travel a bit for a lift if need be)? Happy to contribute fuel and coffee/beer.
-
We’ll be heading out early for D grade, got room in my ute for people & bikes, give me a call on 0409 113 539. Prefer beer to fuel!
Bryan Thurstan.

This Sunday 22nd March, some riders will detour off the UWCT course at O’Brien Rd/Toodyay Rd to ride death valley as training for both the Midland 100 and the ATTA upcoming Gidge TT. We will go left onto O’Brien’s Rd and continue on this until a right at Reserve Rd (at the bottom of a hill and poorly marked) back to toodyay Rd. We will turn around…[Read more]

Daveman replied to the topic Marine parade 4 abreast sat am in the forum General Discussion 10 years ago
Hi George,
It is always a controversial situation. As a long time cyclist, you will know that bikes are legally allowed to ride two abreast on the road. They are also allowed to overtake another group of 2 abreast cyclists (overtaking in single file) meaning that at the time the riders will be 3 abreast on the road.
There are off road shared…[Read more] - Load More
It was tough, with only a couple of us setting the pace. I take away so much from each race and still learning, nice write up Sarah and congrats to you on your podium.
Dave has been a bit generous with the truth! I was the only women riding D grade open and so therefore was the first woman across the line. Ladies, you too can experience this kind of success by giving it a red hot go!
It’ll be our little secret! You were the first woman who registered in C grade to cross the line. Therefore, you’ve just won your first race!
Great write up Sarah. You were the perfect teamie on the day resisting the urge to follow Lorna up the road which ultimately gave her the chance to make her break stick. It was great to see your efforts rewarded with a podium finish. You both did yourselves, each other and the club proud.
Welcome to the wonderful world of racing Stephanie. Congratulations on your efforts!
