  • It looks like the ride leader spreadsheet doesn’t go into May, so can’t put name down. I’ll take out the trannies.

  • Steve, I have a small men’s elite cut jersey – never worn. Let me know if you’re keen. Julian

  • Well done to all who did the VP Ride today. Over 50 started and there were a few who took side routes. At least 40 finished. It was a great day and only 364 more sleeps to the next one!

  • Hi Kevin, we’re not going to turn anyone away on the ride. Given that the new kit has just arrived I thought it would be good to get everyone out in club colours for the occasion. Cheers, Julian

  • A cowbell round your neck might be a nice touch!

As has been mentioned on the ride routes summary, the 3rd Annual Vice President’s Ride will take place on Good Friday, starting at 6 am from the car park.  The ride follows the three dams route, although there […]

    • So, poor form to smash it up climbs and wait for a regroup? I’ll be there either way, just don’t want to make an ass of myself.

Any M2 takers on this ride? Not sure if i keep up with climbs but don’t wanna hold everyone back.

    • I have a couple of 3rd gen shirts in medium and large if anyone needs to borrow one also.

      Craig

    • I’m also keen to come along but I’m not sure if I can hold the M1 pace for the whole ride. Happy to join someone willing to form a second group if we are holding up the group!

    • Yep, there will definitely be a Main 2 paced ride which will leave at the same time. I think the current plan is to leave with the group and decide to split at the first regroup point. Discussion is on the SPR chicks facebook page, I’ll make sure they update plans on the blog as well.

  • Gary, if we can’t do the swap I’ll be happy to look at buying them.

  • Gary,

I have 2 x medium race cuts. a little too bit for me. Not the elite I know but is a swap possible??

Following on from the recent incidents involving SPR members Mike and Davina (see post) ,the committee has agreed to open a donations page for those who wish to contribute to the recovery of both riders.   A […]

    • I probably should have commented here instead of on the Ride post, sorry!

Anyway, as a lawyer that deals with these sorts of things I’m happy to donate some of my time to Davina and Michael for an informal chat if they’re looking for help.

    • I am happy to share what I have learned from my own car/cycling accident on 22/03/2014 (Robson/Hennessy Canning Hwy) to those who have recently had accidents about the ICWA process, Solicitor / Barrister selection, WA Police process/interaction, CA Insurance bike and income claims, Magistrates Court Summons, Physios and Orthopaedic surgeons. I stress that I am not a lawyer/solicitor, but believe I can provide some useful insights into the pitfalls/process that may be helpful to those who have had a serious accident involving an ICWA claim. Please contact me on 0401 279 839 if you want to talk over a coffee. I started my own rehab riding/comeback as of 1/01/15 under the supervision of my orthopedic surgeon/physio. During my own rehab over the past 9 months, the club has been enormously supportive for which I am eternally grateful. Get well soon…..

Unfortunately the end of the 2014 and the start of 2015 have not been kind to a couple of SPR Riders. On New Year’s Eve, Davina Summers was involved in a crash, with a car running into her, and then on New Y […]

There was a scary incident yesterday on the hills ride in Bickley Valley. After splitting on Welshpool Rd, the long and short groups crossed paths again at the intersection of Lawnbrook and Glenisla in Bickley Valley.
Three of us were coming down Lawnbrook Rd at a fair speed, when a group of about 5 short riders arrived at the intersection from Glenisla, stopped, looked, and then headed out straight in front of us. Lots of braking and swerving meant a near miss, instead of a pile-up.
I know that motorists don’t always pay attention to bicycles, but we expect cyclists to be extra vigilant; particularly towards our own club members. Lets all try harder this year.
This morning I renewed my SPR membership, so at least I’m now insured 🙂

  • Possibly do a right turn into High rd from ?Willeri at Riveton Leisureplex, then a left into Vahland ave. Continue down Vahland until South and turn left into South st. We can then rejoin the route at the South/Bannister intersection

  • Major roadworks warning for this ride!

Bannister rd between Willeri Drv and the Canning Vale markets had been ripped up and is in the process of being re-sealed. The re-sealing is earmarked for tomorrow and Saturday nights so be prepared for up to 1.5 km of rough riding.

  • Great write up Greg. You forgot to mention your effort on stage 5 of blowing kisses to the crowd after the first lap

  • Gee I forgot about that. Over to you Ben!

Team SPR 2 was finally settled in the week before the Tour. Unfortunately we lost Simon to jury duty early on and after some final toing and froing with SPR 1 and 3, the line up consisted of Ben, Danny, Craig, […]

  • Please be aware of roadworks coming down towards Riverton bridge. It’s all sealed but there are few witches hats on the road.

  • Water towers done and dusted for another year. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out today and especially El Prez for getting of his sick bed to coordinate it all. Great effort by all.
