While it is always awesome to race in the club colours, if you’re worried about not being able to compete I can tell you that it’s not a problem for you to wear another jersey. Good luck, see you there.

Patrick replied to the topic Beverley Heroic sportive anyone?? in the forum General Discussion 11 years ago
This is relevant to my interests. Have modern steel with a single speed but may build up something older (I’ve got some 600 shifters and a derailleur in the mail but need the rest of the gruppo and a frame).

Just throwing it out there that I may still need a lift to and from Collie as Jon’s sick atm if anyone can help out.
Definitely be mindful of the final lap U-turn, someone I know, not me stopped at the finish line without completing the U-turn when in second place.

I’m planning on it. All signed up, though Jon who has graciously offered me a lift isn’t 100% on whether he can make it.

I ride SS weekdays as a means to boost the workout on my commutes. Would be keen to take a group ride for a change.

Patrick replied to the topic Race tactics or just plain annoying in the forum Racing 11 years ago
Personally, I’m still all for calling hazards in a race. A hazard not called is one that might take a club mate and even if you don’t feel the compassion to do so; a hazard that takes down the opposition may well take your or someone else with it. My compassion ends there though, we don’t need to burn our energy to help other racers unless we’re…[Read more]

Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone is able to help myself and bike get down to the Collie-Donnybrook. As always, happy to pay my way in fuel, conversation and beer.
Thanks in advance, Patrick

Patrick replied to the topic Bike Insurance in the forum General Discussion 11 years ago
My understanding is there is NO coverage included with Cycling Australia membership for your equipment. They cover personal injury and liability. I’ve insured my TCR with cyclingaustraliainsurance.com.au which is a CA branded Velosure policy. It costs me ~$25p/m for $3k’s coverage.

Hey Jon,
I won’t make it as I missed the window for signups (they filled the 200 quota) :(. I have signed up for B grade at the Cyclassic though and we’ll see how things go from there ;).

Try to stay in the front third of the peloton, this minimises your chance of getting into trouble from either a) bad handling riders or b) getting blocked out When it comes to the finish. Don’t be too concerned about riders breaking away so long as you can keep eyes on them, count the distance left and make it up before the end. If you’re willing…[Read more]

A bit late to be putting this out there but is there anyone planning on going to the Pickering Brook races that can give myself and bike a lift? I live in Greenwood.

Patrick replied to the topic Wanted! 1 x old rear wheel .. in the forum Classifieds 11 years ago
Unfortunately I no longer have a spare, I will say Shimano R501s go for about $90-110 for the rear in store about Perth and are pretty solid. Put 5000km or so on one and only had to make two minor spoke tweaks (I weigh 83kg now, started at about 95 and have been riding 30 kmh+ averages).
