Fascinating take on it. I’ll have to do some more reading about it myself, I enjoy making such arguments. I wrote a piece a while back on a related tangent, with my interpretation of the Traffic Act/Code:

Definitely not part of the desired culture. I joined SPR a little over 3 years ago, the published stance on its inclusive and encouraging nature has been there for the whole of that period.

Hi, sorry it’s taken so long for someone to reply, I figure you’ve probably solved this by now. Melody Wheels is the in vogue wheel builder in Perth at the moment. Other than that, most local bike shops should probably be able to source and install a suitable spoke for you. Maybe start with those you know sell Campagnolo parts. ELite Cycles would…[Read more]

Patrick replied to the topic FTP adjustment in the forum General Discussion 7 years, 11 months ago
It’s also worth noting that FTP is solely a measure of your capacity to perform at the lactate threshold between aerobic and anaerobic power generation – this doesn’t necessarily reflect your capacity to complete a complex set of intervals that stress you physiologically in multiple ways. Using my FTP value to derive interval sets can result in…[Read more]

I’m glad you brought this up, I’d already thought of commissioning my own. Can you confirm if a skinsuit would be an option? Cannibal or Santini?

Patrick replied to the topic Power meter guide in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 1 month ago
I’m still a firm believer in what I said, if you value reliable data then you’re best off getting a meter that measures whole power directly. Vector S, Stages and a few other left only solutions soon to hit the market only measure one component vector and make estimates about the rest. This is fine, so long as you maintain a consistent L/R power…[Read more]

I’d suggest giving CA a call, I found them very helpful with a couple of membership issues.

Patrick replied to the topic Power meter guide in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 2 months ago
Hi Nirvan, personally, while I agree that L/R power is not important for most I would steer clear of a left only power meter such as the Vector or Stages. The problem here is that while you won’t need the balance, ideally you do want a true measurement of total power; these meters only measure input from the left leg and double it. If you get a…[Read more]
