Hi Bryan, what dates does she need them? Also, if she can’t find one to borrow About Bike Hire rents out decent road bikes in her size (have borrowed from them before). If she can, it’s probably best if she brings her own shoes as they can be hard to borrow.

Just a FYI. City of Vincent are running 2.5 hour bike maintenence courses in November. They’re run by the Bike Dr (who are lovely hipsters) and cover Basics (basic servicing, puncture repair, chain maintenance) OR Advanced (drivetrain maintenance) for $15 (or $10 if you’re a city of Vincent resident).

What level of cycling ability is required? I have a friend who’s just starting out on her first road bike but doesn’t have much confidence and definitely doesn’t have clip-in shoes. Would this be suitable for her?

I’d be keen. I also have a friend who would definitely be keen. She came along to hills last week and got spat out when SPR started climbing (I didn’t leave her alone, she was with another friend).
Currently I’m just making the normal hills ride wait for me but they might tire of that soon!

For those of us located North or if you ever travel that way, the City of Vincent’s proposed Bike Network Plan is in “community consultation” via an online form from the website below. It includes on-road lanes down Bulwer St, Oxford St and those nice green boxes at traffic lights that put cyclists up the front of traffic.
