    Interesting post.

All I can add to the conversation is that the old back wheel shove back when standing is common. It happens. Your in a club bunchy where skills are mixed – so don’t ride so close.

Now that is off my chest though here is what I actually wanted to say – in my old club everyone used to call out ‘standing!’ if you were going to stand up for some unexpected reason. So if you were going up climb, yeah whatever everyone stands, so you wouldn’t need to say anything. But if you’re rolling along on the flat and everyone is sucking wheels nice and tight then yeah a nice courteous ‘standing!’ helped avoid and crashes. It also, over time, had the added benefit of giving people confidence in riding closer as you knew your buddies would call out before shoving their rear wheel into your face.

So I offer this just as different perspective. You can look at this issue through the paradigm of club culture and etiquette. Or you may not. Whatever helps you keep skin on your knees.

    Peace.
