holy crap it’s december. where has my year gone. i think i must have left it in my other pants. we are looking at a warm one on saturday and it will be good to get the riding gear on without having to worry about armwarmers, vests, bootie covers, knee warmers, etc, etc, etc.
to celebrate such a nice warm saturday ride we are going to do something different. i want to try to break the group up a bit. i.e. a group 1 and a group 2. the way we are going to do this is by imposing a massive hill in the middle of the ride. namely gooseberry hill. if you have joined the fun of the sunday ride, then you may have experienced gooseberry. if not think hard about which group you want to play in. the group 2 riders will skip gooseberry and head over the easy side of ridgehill rd. it will then be up to group 1 to try to catch group 2 on the way home via guilford rd. with easterly winds this may be a hard task. so make sure you look hard at the map so that you know exactly where we are riding as this is a very new route.
sunday i will have to miss out on the fun as i will be taking number 1 son to the christmas parade in the city. after the work kids christmas party the night before, at adventure world, we should be all santa’d out till christmas day. so to make it easy for you i am sending you on a kind of reverse of what we did last week. most people should know the roads, but make sure you tally up the points as we start a new month in the mountain points this week.
that new concept sounds like fun! It will be a warm weekend over here as well: 5 degrees max, possibly no rain/snow/drizzle…
enjoy the rides, guys!!!
Bad luck Jens, go skiing for me 🙂
I think I am definately a group 2 candidate as I have not done any hills for ages..
I predict some walking people… Gooseberry is my least favourite hill..
hi jens, hope your are keeping some of that famous sprint form on the trainer… :-0
Ryan you cant go in group 2 this is for meanials like me 😉 – maps and short cuts being noted….
I am going to declare early and nominate for group 2. This is my last ride with the bunch for 3 weeks as I am going away on leave. I am looking for the safe option so I don’t have to sit on the plane for 20 hours with road rash. Anybody else nominating for group 2 – we will have to work together to stay away.
Group two seems to be the go. I am in!!!
I feel like a loser 🙁
I’d love to climb the big boys hill, but I would never keep up. It’s times like this I face the reality that my hill climbing isnt going to get any better by avidly avoiding hills.
Bec, you could come and help the second group get home before the big boys mow us down.
sounds like fun, enjoy the chase
run little bunnies run 🙂
Does this mean you are coming out with group 1 Chuck?
I hope you have your wheels sorted.. I will be getting dejavu from last week when James and I had to chase you bunnies down. Only two wolves and many bunnies, this week the numbers will be a little more even..
Yum yum bunnies, here we come..
I guess I’ll be chasing as well then eh Ryan? Can’t even remember which one Gooseberry Hill is.. It’ll all come flooding back when I get there, I’m sure 🙂
hmm, i feel like half-bunny, half wolf…i’ll end up chasing my own tail.
Mmm…let me see…so option is to climb with the big boys, be left behind, try to play catch-up to a 50K/h train that’s hunting the “B” team…doesnt sound like much fun at all.
On the other hand, there’s the reward of the downhill Zig-Zag …which with a bit of imagination and the oxygen deprivation from climbing Gooseberry hill could look like Alpe D’huez.
Hey Pete, do we get Mountain points if we do Gooseberry hill on Saturday?
Oh no… not “Col de Gooseberry”!!!
Give me a carrot and call me “Bugs” 😉
I would love to be doing the Saturday hill with you all (especially Ryan) but I’ll be heading down to Busselton for the 180km Ironman leg on Sunday. Yas has done a fantastic job doing some ceramic upgrades and setting up the carbon tubular wheels. It’s a brave new world for everyone. Good luck to yous all.
Good luck to Michael B1. 180km is a big ride. 180km TT is awesome. But I’m sure you’ll do well
Cheers Stuart
Yep gp Mr B, Would of loved to have a crack at my bike PB there but bloody work got in the way 🙁
Im back in town early next week for Henk Vogels din din wed night so dont think I will be in any state to get up early and ride 🙂 Hope the weekends rides go well;)
thanks for the ride this morning guys. My first time out in “The Hills” and as much as it hurt, it was great fun – thanks for waiting for me. I’m still hurting now, but I’ll be back for more.
