ride routes 24th & 25th & 26th jan

after quite a successful splitting of the groups last week, i will look at implementing that more often.  for this week though, we will go back to the “go hard then regroup” strategy as we tackle the cresswell hill in yokine and herdsman lake.

our pseudo-election of office bearers will take place before this ride and if you wish to nominate you still can.  also, we are gathering a list of riders that would be interested in joining the club so if it is you, look back on the previous post and send us an email.

sunday will attempt some nice long climbs but as always there will be shortcuts and lots of regroup points.  stu has an 11 pt lead over mike in the mountain classifications for january, with ryan not too far behind.  as next sunday is the start of a new month, it may all come down to this final weekend.

monday is a public holiday and as such there will be a ride going around the river.  the meeting point, however, will have to be up the road a bit on the corner of angelo and coode as there will be road closures in place early on.

also, starting tonight, the perth criterium series will be on with a race everyday over the weekend.  it is fast racing that is spectator friendly so i recommend that you head along and watch.  also ryan will be racing in the open men’s section (for the WAR team) and a few of our regular girls will also be out, so go and give them some support.

  1. There will also be road closures around Point Walter and Burke Drive on Monday morning as there is the Australia Day Triathlon on at Point Walter. Rob & I will be flying the SPR colours 🙂

  2. does this mean we should get some spr tri-suits as well???
i could probably organise some if we had enough interest (at least 10 i think)

  3. Good luck lads, I hope you both go well.

What about some nice white skin suits for the TT’s/Cyclosportif’s? 😉

  4. SPR Tri Suits? Hell yeh! Mike wore his SPR jersey on the ride at WA IM – it would have been great to have a tri kit that worked! I’d prefer shorts/top rather than the one piece – but either is fine.

  5. one piece is the way forward. We need a flash white tt outfit which can double as a tri-suit. Or is it the other way around? So SPR will be both tri club and cycling club 🙂

  6. not a tri-club (as this would be stepping on city tri clubs feet a bit) but if we want to do a run of spr tri gear, all you have to do is get the numbers. i will chase up a price this week and let you know.

also, i have noticed a lot of people wearing the sleeveless jersey on our rides. i will check out a price on getting an spr one done too if there is enough interest. i know my tan-lines look terrible when i wear my spunky, little strapless number.

  7. me too 😉
my tan lines are not as bad as some but they still get comments at work – not good!

  8. Taken from the Euro Cyclists Code of Conduct..

    11. A prominent line where your kit ends and where your tan begins is essential to your image. Artificial tanning is banned, the tan shall reflect the level of training commitment.

  9. I’m sure i don’t know what you mean 😉
Cycling knicks, shirt sleeves and socks are the only tan lines we’re talking about

  10. um, james. i think that there is also something about leg hairs in the Euro cyclists code as well. let he who is without hairs cast the first stone.
