CYCLOSPORTIF – Sunday 28th June – Swan Valley

For those of you who already know, Cyclosportif events are fantastic participation events for cyclists of all abilities.

The next Cyclosportif event,  Cicla a Swan Valley,  is on Sunday 28th June starting at the Velodrome  in Midvale and heading out around the picturesque Swan Valley.

There is an opportunity for anyone involved in SPR  to participate as there are 3 different distances to choose from.

Distances:
78kms – 5 x laps
62kms – 4 x laps
31kms – 2 x laps

img_5372Each team comprises up to a maximum of 9 and a minimum of 5 riders for each event, with the overall team time (you must stick together) counting as the completed time.

This is NOT racing – it is about enjoying a challenge with your team mates and ‘participating’ as a team not ‘winning’.

Let’s see how many SPR jerseys we can get out there and show other riders what an enthusiastic and energetic club we have!img_5320

Cost is $45 pp for Cyclosportif members/ $60 pp for non-members

If you hold a current Cycling Australia racing license the cost is $45

Recreational and non-license holders will need to buy a “friend

of Cyclosportif” day license to participate – $60 in total

Please indicate in the comments if you are interested and in which distance.

An SPR “base camp” and “feed zone” will be available on the day.

  1. Yep. Count me in. Either is fine with me. Of course, we’ll need to have the ‘push’ vs ‘touch’ debate again!

  2. Well, I can’t let Fynn and Nico say they have a bigger one than me so I guess I am in for 78 as well.

  3. As long as it doesn’t rain… the big one. It is pretty flat, Rob, so there shouldn’t be any “need” to touch anybody.

  4. I’m in for the big one too. Ryan, remember to work for the TEAM so when you roll through don’t smash the rest of us

  5. Now, with all this talk, I could really go to town. Just as well I’m a SNAG and waaaayyy too polite for this topic…

…I do like to touch though….Doh.!

  6. Hmm, Mere Male is the tactile sort… If I did not know any better, I would think he was in HR..

Seems everyone here likes to go long. Now we have to decide on who is in the smash it team (40km/hr+ for 78kms) and the tactile team (how quickly you get there is not as important as the ‘RIDE’)…

We may need to have some trials.. Hmmm…

  7. Ooooh, come on! Now there’s all the debate between ‘long, slow and enjoying the experience’ vs ‘fast, hard and getting really sweaty’!

  8. We are in the process of getting a crew together for the 62, believe we may have nominated Russel as the Boss 🙂

  9. Quick question, it is stated in the blog that entry is $45 for Cyclo Sportif members and $60 for non members. I have my racing license, does this count as Cyclo Sportif membership or do I need another type of license?

  10. To clarify my interest, I’m ok for 62 or 78 and prefer to be in a ‘tactile’ group.
Would there be a enough numbers for to have a ‘smash-it’ and ‘tactile’ team for each distance?

PS. I don’t mind being ‘touched’ or ‘pushed’

  11. Happy to have you on board Shun! You do realize though, that there is a “3rd” category, and that is the “feel”…a VERY different proposition – just ask Snuggles!

  12. I am considering joining Team Russel’s mob for a 62. Can’t commit just yet but it sounds like fun. Nev (away this week), Wil, Doug, Greg and Declan – could this be the “old guys” ?

Some extra info; “Cyclo Sportif requires full payment upon registration for an event. Cyclo Sportif does not refund event fees under any circumstances, including where an event is cancelled by Cyclo Sportif for any reason at its discretion. ”

“Online registration closes on: 24/06/2009 at 11:59 PM(AEST)”

  13. Put me in for the 78km ride (barring the weather which has been known to be a bit wet & windy in the past)
