state team time trial

the results from the state team time trial are up.  the spr women’s team managed to get a bronze medal in the event so a great job by them.  the two men’s open teams were very evenly matched with only 2 second separating them.  the masters teams rounded out a great showing by spr today.

it was a great sight to see all the spr jerseys around the sunshade today and i think it made a great impression on the rest of the competitors.  especially when we could continue to spin on the trainers under the tent while it was bucketing down and most others were hiding in their cars.  so congratulations to all that competed today and also to chris, melvyn and lorraine that made the effort to come down for support.

  1. I’m a bit confused with these times. SPR Elite B started 2 min ahead of us and we lapped them, how come they have a quicker time! Does that mean they counted Judd’s time?

  2. My garmin had a 1.02 which makes more sense, they stuffed the timing up ……
Well done to all, great club outing 🙂

  3. Well done to all our participants and spectating helpers – it was a great club day out.
I agree that ‘they’ stuffed up the times (I recorded 1:03:57 cf ‘their’ 1:04:57) – which is somewhat significant given that it was a TIME trial. Kinda makes you lose confidence in all the times and places!!!

  4. Well done to all the entrants and particular congratulations to the Ladies team for the podium.

Nico/Jerry, you’re just miffed that the boys with their non-aero kit and the patented HEDley TT bars beat you 😉

Melvyn, I hope my driving didn’t scare you too much, Graham Watson better look out!

  5. They must have taken Judd’s time. I was shouting from the side road at Judd (to try prevent him from going over the timing strip) as he cruised by but he was in his own world… 🙂

Good work to all out there. Not the most ideal conditions and the first team time trial for most involved I am sure (I think only 5 people out of 23 had participated in one before). We will be back next year with TT bikes, disk wheels and and them flash helmets (Steve, you better start making them now)..

  6. As a supporter it was a pretty awesome site to see so many SPR riders out there yesterday!
    We certainly made an impact!

I felt a little sorry for the other folk who were cold, wet, hungry, thirsty and without the lurve of a big family!!!

Congratulations to everyone who participated… especially the girls for bringing home some medals!

  7. It was my first TTT and I thoroughly enjoyed it (albeit the pain). i think being part of a great group of riders and support is what makes the experience so worthwhile, so thanks again to all that turned out for a lovely spring day in Pinjarra 🙂

  8. I think SPR put a few clubs on notice yesterday with getting so many teams in what is normally a discipline only the ‘elite’ attend. You must be doing something right as a club to convince so many ‘newbies’ to come spill their guts in a team time trial!! well done to the management!! cheers to the crew in masters B – great ride

  9. Likewise it my my first time and boy did it hurt. Next time (and there will be a next time) I need to remember not to get too excited when overtaking the group in front, with over half the race to go!. The Masters B team report will have to come from someone else after the first 19 km – up until that stage (and said overtaking issues) it was all going swimmingly. Thanks to Shane, Bruce and Michael for holding it together well to the end. The friendly faces at the start, along the route and at the end made it all worthwhile.

  10. Happy Days folks! Thanks to all for making the day an enjoyable experience.. The tent, the photos, the drinks/nibbles at the end, all made it feel nice to be part of a team. Looking forward to taking part in many more events and improving the results for SPR. Cheers to the B Elite Team

  11. It feels great to finally find a cycling “Club” to proudly compete for. Most cyclists I’ve known have wanted to be part of a “Team”, I feel our “Club” is our “Team” and that’ll keep me enjoying my cycling.
Both Saturday and Sunday were superbly organised, represented and supported by people who appreciate all that the “Club” is.
Hopefully the timing problems are ironed out by next years race so the “b” team can undoubtably claim their place ahead of the whinging “a” team! lol
Anyone wanting a custom set of TT bars can soon place an order with my secretary(hopefully I’ll be busy in the factory trying to meet demand).
Stu will be making stationary trainer front wheel raisers to order too I’m sure!(Stu, we could start a company called “The PVC Gurus”?)
Thankyou for Joe, Daniel and Jarrad for a great day in the saddle.
P.S Jarrad: Hope you are healing ok and back out on the bike already.
    Thankyou SPR
    Steve
