NDCC Criterium this Sunday 10th January

By Toby

The Northern District Cycling Club is holding a crit this Sunday.  I took part in the last one before Christmas, and thought it was a well run event and definitely worth the effort.  It was a shame that I was the only one flying the SPR colours on the day – so I thought I’d invite some more people to take up the challenge this weekend.

There will be three grades running with the following race durations:

A-grade : 50mins + 2 laps

B-grade : 40mins + 2 laps

C-grade : 30mins + 2 laps

I managed to place 3rd in C-grade last time, and Dave S (@madrapper) has also picked up a third place in the past – that might help you gauge what grade to enter.

Details

Location: Innovation Circuit, Wangara

Date: Sunday 10th January

Time: B-grade starts at 8:00am, A&C-grades start at 8:45am.

Cost: Noms are $15 and day licenses are available for $20 on the day.

  1. thank you for posting this as I just got a response today from Noelene from northern districts and I was going to do it – so you saved me the bother!!! 😉 See you there

  2. I have a couple of spare small jersey’s.
Leave a comment if you’d like to borrow one.
    Chris

  3. Just a jersey would be great – we are first in line for the next group buy for kits, can’t wait 🙂

  4. Speed depends and changes from race to race – its not too bad in saying that I have not done the circuit and I am playing ignorant and hoping speed is on my side as I will be attempting B grade – ahhhh 😉

  5. Raphael – the last one I did I finished with an average of 38.5km/hr – however that included the warm down lap – so the race average was probably about 39km/hr. There is a write up on the blog – just search for MFCC.

  6. The course is a good one, it has a slight rise in it just after the finish line as you go through the roundabaout. it Also has a very fast lefthander after the back straight so be aware not to go into it to hot. I will be there also, A grade.

  7. can i get a detailed map of the course of a note outline of the route .i looked at the google map but doesnt say which route it takes .cheers if some one can just put it on here thats cool .
cheers see you at the start line .

  8. Gee Matty since you are doing A I may join you instead of doing the masters one 🙂
Are you riding up? Maybe meet you in the city and ride up/Home?

  9. Jason… you still got the sunshade in the van?
Might be worth taking it if there’s a few SPR riders there on Sunday.
I am planning on making the most of the cooler temp on Sun and am heading back to the hills… gulp

Does anyone want to cordinate some coldies & water for the SPR crew???
$$$ can be refunded as soon as Pete returns.

    Loz

PS plenty of photos please 🙂

  10. I think i’ll head to the hills instead, as i fear i’d find it mucho difficult to haul my Christmas-Beer-Holiday-inflated a$$ around the best part of an hour of crit-fun.

Best of luck guys/gals and come back in one piece.

  11. Nico, your not that old yet!
I am on night shift the night before so i will have to drive up mate. I won’t get off work in time to ride up. I will send you a Text if i can’t make it due to a busy night. But all things going to plan i will see you there.

  12. Hi lads, suffering the flu at the moment… would love to race but will have to wait for the next one.. Good luck to all involved.. Cheers

  13. Hi Chuck, could you please bring a spear Small jersey. If anyone racing on the day has a spear Medium or Large, please let me know 🙂

I have a feeling that half of C grade will be made up of SPR riders.

  14. The SPR tent is at my place. I’m doing hills on Sunday but if anyone wants to collect it for the Crits, please let me know.

  15. Mino, Lisa is bringing two spare small jerseys. Assuming she remembers 😉

Best of luck everyone, keep the rubber on the road.
