Pemberton Classic Entrants

I’m just wondering if there is a list of SPR riders in the various grades that are going to Pemberton? I’m going to go myself and I would like a bit of collaboration with others on some tactics prior to meeting on the start line.

EDITORS NOTE:

please add your name to the comments below if you are going to pemberton and what races (crits/road) and what grades you are doing.  there seemed to be quite a few hands go up on saturday for those heading down so it would be good for everyone to catch up while down there.  if anyone wants to take the tent down with them, let me know, but you must have it manned at all times so it doesn’t blow away (e.g. have a partner going down with you).

  1. Danny (my brother) Toby and I will be doing both the crit and road race in C grade. We discussed amongst ourselves a few weeks ago that we would aim to line Toby up for the sprint in the crit given his 6 straight wins on the Saturday Intermediate rides (haha sorry Tob’s, I had to add that in!) and Danny for the road race considering his ability to climb with the Sunday advance riders in Kalamunda. C grade rider thought’s are welcomed – be great if we can pull off one win this weekend 🙂

  2. C grade crit and road race for me. Staying in the Gloucester motel- driving down with chris that’s doing the B grade road race- he’s staying at the karri Forrest motel.

  3. A quick message to Mark_S and Benicio “The Wolfman” – could I please arrange to collect both medium jerseys from you both? I can come past during office hours to you’re work place or at a convenient time after hours – please let me know what suits best. Thanks

  4. Yup – as Mino said – I will be targeting the win in the crit as I’m better suited to that kind of race – and for the road race I’ll work for the team. If we can get Dan, Jason,Josh the ghost face killer etc a gap before the final climb we have a good shot I think.

I suggest we try to meet and hour before each event to discuss the tactics.

  5. I think you will be surprised by the crit course, a hills man could the most likely winner..

    🙂

    Good luck all participating..

  6. Just the B grade/Support Road Race for me. Chris A, Brother Jules and Stu(?) have also indicated their intentions for this grade, so with a couple more (if you are undecided, rooms still available at the Karri Valley Resort) we could form a strong team that could influence the race.

  7. Mino – re SPR Medium Jersey.
I work in Public Transport Building (big ugly 6 storey brown brick building next to East Perth rail station – access off West Parade) and live in Wood St – Inglewood.
Which ever is easiest for you – let me know
Wk tel is 9326 2865 and home is 9271 1970

  8. As Ryan has said.. the crit course is NOT FLAT!!! Leading someone out is not going to be easy or practical.
There is steep climb, right hand corner and then a slight uphill section before the finish!

    Good luck to all!!!

  9. I have registered for the road race (b grade) only. Looking forward to it – gotta be better than last year, at least weatherwise 🙂

  10. C grade road race for me, not getting down in time for the crit. Staying at the Karri Forrest Motel.

  11. I’ll be going as well, crit and road race, both B grade.

Alistair B will be going as well (B grade crit and road race). Don’t know where we are staying…

  12. I’m doing the crit and road race. I’m in C – my legs are shattered after my tour in NZ. I’ll be able to support the SPR team I hope and give a few tactical tips and generally see what happens. For the record, Graham Betts & Frans the South African were in C last year in it was bloody hard! I came 4th in the road race and 5th in the crit so there was no burgling going on. Betts was aslo the WA sprint champ 2 weeks prior to last years race so work that out! Anyways, thats my intention subject to change… I’m staying in Vinters Cottage.

  13. Staying at the Karri Valley resort

For anyone who missed out on registering online this morning (like myself) call WA Cycling on 93283422 and you can sign up over the phone with a credit card 🙂

  14. Sitting in C grade Matt, noice.. Sounds like a good place to be.. If I did not have an engagement party on this weekend, I may have been tempted to come play…

Looks like there will be a large SPR contingent, great to see. Have fun all and race smart..

  15. Tent and Esky has been organised. WAGS have been notified of tent watching obligations.

What is everyone doing for dinner on Saturday night? Was thinking about making a group booking somewhere. Thoughts?
