Ride Routes 4th and 5th September

(yeah September…. where does the time go?)

First spring ride of the year! Come on warm weather…….

Fathers Day on Sunday too!  Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads!

You may have already noticed the capital letters in this post, and deduced that Peter is not at the helm.  El Presidente is in the jungles of Brazil looking for oil or gold or something else on which Julia would levy a tax.  So I have inherited the responsibilty of posting the weekends ride routes.

Racing

Friday – Track racing is on again this Friday night.  This is the second to last round of the winter season before Track Cycling WA breaks up.  The summer season starts late October.  So your chances to get your track fix are running out.

Saturday – PDCC graded scratch at Baldivis. 2pm start. Pancake.

Sunday – ATTA at Champion Lakes

Ride Routes

Someone mentioned Benara Rd over the weekend.  Got me thinking how much I like that ride.  So we will be hitting Benara Rd on Saturday.  For the sake of making this easy for me I’m going to send the fast group & main 1 all down Benara Rd.  This might help lure a few more people into the fast group with the promise of being picked up by the following group chasing behind.

The course is a little different.  This we now turn right on Morely Drive, left on Alexander Drive which we follow down to Vincent Street.  Vincent across to Loftus, down past Kings Park, through Claremont and then the normal Dalkeith and Nedlands home.

Main 2 will do the same route with a short-cut at the end.  No Nedlands for you!

Look forward to seeing who steps up.

I have left all the other groups the same, thought I’d play it safe and hopefully send people down a route they remember.

  1. Hoping on getting a few developmental / novice riders. As Carol is away, I will take this group out.

  2. I too have a somewhat capable 10yo girl that could be pushed to 20kph average. But I believe Pete was looking into some sort of coaching for the little ones as “working with children” factors come into play.

  3. Toby
Transitionals did the Reverse River Last weekend and will be doing the Reebold Hill this coming weekend – appreciate i if you could change the Blog notice accrodingly
    cheers mark_s

  4. i’d expect the parent to accompny their child so i had not considered a ‘handover to coach scenario’. that would be a different kettle of fish i agree.

i’m goning to keep an eye on this post and see if anyone else is interested to do a ‘ride with their kid’ this sat.

if numbers look more than a handful it might work out. maybe even a new group will emerge – ‘Junior Development’ or something similar. 🙂

  5. Hey Lennie, if you’re game for FAST, I might be tempted too. I need to ride with someone as I have a tendency to getting lost – excellent trait when backpacking, err.. exploring! The last time I rode with the FAST group over Benara road, I got unhinged and ended up on my own – I took the wrong turn at Alburquque and had to make 3 lefts to go right, or was it the other way round. But eventually found myself looking at the Indian Ocean and said “sh**” I don’t have one of those Garmin bizzos.

The Main group in getting big enough now that if there is consensus, we could split to Main 1 and Fast B. The current Fast group can be re-labelled Fast A…. FASTA…… faster…. geddit???? ….. oh, never mind!
So Fast A & B can do the same route, Main 1 & Main 2 as before, split by leaving time.

  6. Thanks for the suggestion Raph… ahhh…. but no there wont be anymore group splitting. Go fast group, get shelled and wait to be picked up by main 1. You wont be alone 🙂

If you’re worried about getting lost -the simple solution is to look at the route beforehand.

  7. Sunday 5th ride – return via Welshpool rd.
