Congratulations Dav

Well done to Davin and his partner Carla who have just completed the Smiling for Smiddy challenge in Queensland a gruelling 1600 kilometre, eight day cycling journey with no rest days. Cyclist’s average 200 kilometres a day.

It was created to commemorate the life of Adam Smiddy – a young physiotherapist who passed away in August 2006 after a short battle against an aggressive cancer. Adam was just 26 years of age and in the prime of his life.

  1. Brilliant work Dav & Carla – still can’t believe you cycled 200 – 250km each day for so many days. You crazy bike freaks!! Well done for raising a whole heap of cash towards eliminating the cancer curse.

  2. Looking back on the ride it was an awesome experience and I’m very glad to have been a part of it. There were plenty of tough moments and challenging conditions but the other 59 riders and 10+ support crew made it an unforgettable experience along with the incredibly generous town folk we met along the way.

    The stories we heard from Cancer survivors and people touched by Cancer through family members and close friends really drove the message home for us on how destructive and common this horrible disease is. It strikes blindly and does not discriminate.

    Thanks for posting the article and for all the support, both in words and dollars. It is all very much appreciated.
