ride routes christmas weekend

only a couple of days till christmas so i hope you have your shopping done.  i haven’t finished yet, but i work in the city, so just have to wander half a block into the mall and try to negotiate all the thousands of slow walking, supre dressed, school kids with nothing better to do.  keeping it brief this week, as not much on but christmas.  stay safe.

ride routes – there will be an unofficial ride this saturday for all those that do not have to watch kids open presents first thing in the morning.  just a basic lap of the river, but depending on who turns up, i guess you guys can work out where you want to go.  on sunday, we will do a hills ride for those that aren’t boxing up the presents that they don’t want.  monday will be the official public holiday ride on the standard route.  tuesday, being a public holiday, will also be a public holiday ride, but we will run the normal tuesday 5:30am ride from the narrows.  the option then exists to finish that ride at coode st and roll straight onto the public holiday ride.

saturday 25th december – all rides start at coode st carpark at 7:00am

spr saturday 50.97km (river ride)

sunday 26th december – all rides start at coode st carpark at 7:00am

short – spr sunday 61.14km (welshpool & weir rd)

long – spr sunday 87.99km (welshpool & observatory & camelberg & gooseberry)

monday 27th december – ride starts at coode st carpark at 7:00am

spr public holiday 59.35km (shelley & freo)

tuesday 28th december – first lap starts at 5:30am under the narrows, second lap starts at 7:00am coode st

  1. Yeah, I have to second Shaw’s comments. Thank you so much to everyone in SPR, and everyone who comes along for the rides. Without the fantastic atmosphere within the club and amongst the riders, I doubt that I would have kept riding as much as I have done, and certainly not kept it up through the winter.

One year ago I weighed 98Kg, and now I weigh 78Kg, and that’s pretty much entirely due to the 10500Km I’ve ridden with the club this year. So, I thank you, my family thanks you, and my future cardiologists bank balance doesn’t thank you 🙂

Here’s to another great year in 2011.

  2. Happy holidays kids!

If anyone from the T2 group wants to join me on Monday/Tuesday & do the routes mentioned above, i’m keen. Otherwise i’ll just ride on me own like I normally do.

Thanks again for providing folks like me the opportunity to regain confidence in group riding. So far, all of the gents who’ve led the T2 group have been awesome. Thanks Lozza 😉

Now all I have to do is balance road/dirt/open water swims/swimming…

  3. I cannot agree with Shaw and Jordan more. A year ago Jen and I treated ourselves to some Christmas bikes for ourselves. At the time I thought it was a major extravagance but we have never looked back.
In a year we have gone from the novice group riding to Shelley to Jen coming 2nd in his first criterium,he’s done a road race,we’ve done 2 cyclo sportifs and he’s fallen off twice!!
We’ve had such a great year on the bikes, getting fitter, improving our speed and most importantly meeting fantastic people who are now new friends.
Thank you SPR,I look forward to 2011.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone.
