I have a female friend who is looking to buy a 2nd hand road bike. She is about 5’7″ and not looking for anything too fancy pants but would like to do some enticer triathlons.
So if you’ve been thinking of selling that old one now you’ve bought yourself (“santa bought”) you a new grease lightning, or if you bought the wife one as a present and she’s refused to don the lycra then give me a shout.
Cheers
Anna
So, I’m guessing a 2nd-hand (almost new) Pinarello FP1 would be out of the budget then? If not, I know someone try to sell one..
If she’s interested in my Giant Defy (Small – I’m 5’4″) for around $2k (with Mavic Ksyrium wheels), then I can get really serious about finding a new bike.
hope this is allowed…
what sort of budget is she looking at? i’ve been surfing ebay/gumtree for a cheap 2nd hand roadie for a mate of mine and came across this 2008 Giant OCR for ladies. $800.00

Hi Anna,
I am the same height as your friend and looking to sell my Fuji Roubaix 1.0.
It’s an alloy frame in black and white (very classy looking colours) and comes with full Sram Rival. Has been ridden for less than 500kms so practically brand new. Bought it for $1899 less than six months ago (can provide the receipt for your use for warranty).
Am looking for $1500ono. Please email me if you or your friend is interested to have a look at it – jarrah@iinet.net.au

I’m currently selling my 2008 Specialized Allez Elite, I think it is a 56 or 56.5 frame. Wireless computer, good condition, serviced, I’ve already got my new bike so it is ready to go. I was asking $800, but I’m willing to undercut Ebay.
It has also won two triathlons, so it is definitely race ready and triathlon lucky.
Is there any difference between a mens and womens road bikes? Or does it matter in this instance.
I’m 5’7″ and I’m selling my small Giant TCR C1 with ultegra for $1000.
Dear Daniel, can you give me more details? My boss is looking for his first road bike….
Looks like our web-nerds need to setup a classifieds 🙂 Lots of peeps with stuff to sell.
“Paging @michaelroper to the white courtesy phone.”
I think I better withdraw mine from sale until I can find my dream bike.
Wow, thanks guys, what a response. Jordan I think you’re right about having a classified section.
Michael, i’ll give you 500 bucks for it! Bargain! Ha ha
Jason, we too looked on gumtree and i believe that one was already sold which was a shame.
Anna, as she is new to the sport i dont think she’s looking to spend that much, however if like the rest of us she ends up tripling her budget i will give you a shout – thanks.
Chris – no my friend is not a he/she! Are you free sometime for her to perhaps give it a try?
Daniel – Same to you. I think its a bit over her budget but she’s not tried anything so i think she should see what she can get for different amounts.
Shaw – I would not take your wheels from under you and i will not tell your Giant next time i see it that you spoke of a ‘dream bike’!
Hi Anna
Have you tried http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/ ?
They have got used bikes all over Aus. but I see there are 3 bikes in WA which may be of intrest.
Hi again
Just another 5 cents worth, if this is your friend’s first bike, it may be an idea to get a bike that is the correct size. Using your height alone does not always work. Even when operating on a constrained budget, a good fit is achievable. Although a good bike shop will do this for you, is can cost. There is a free tool which she could try at :-

It may seem a little over the top, but if you at least strat with the optimal frame size you can sort out the other bits later.
Anna,
Feel free to send me an email, or give my email to your friend: curnow.christopher@gmail.com
Happy to arrange a viewing/test ride.
Chris
