ok, so it looks like the weather has finally turned. no more 30 deg days and wednesday was wet from start to finish. however, that could be all the rain we get for winter, but we will have to see. the temp has dropped as well but not really cold yet. it is interesting some of the conversations revolving around what to wear on the ride. soon it will be undergarment, bibs, jersey, arm warmers, vest, knee warmers, socks, shoes, bootie covers, long fingered gloves and riding beanie under the helmet. i am going to need to set my alarm clock for 10 min earlier to allow time to get dressed.
also congratulations to a few rouleurs that have new additions to their families (babies not bikes). michael roper, raphael chee and james fox have recently had family expansions. don’t expect to see them any time soon. 🙂
racing – the tom lowry memorial race is on this weekend down at collie and there are a few heading down across all grades. coming up soon is the state time trial championships so if you want to see how you rate against others in the group against the clock, then here is your chance.
members benefits – i am just finalising the last of the shop deals that you can get as members. for those that are not aware, i have organised with a bunch of business for certain items that can be purchased at a discounted rate when you show your south perth membership card. if anyone else out there has a business that they want to have involved with this, let me know. it doesn’t have to be a bike related business, just one that you are happy to offer club members a discount on certain items. if you want any more info, email me.
ride routes – nothing too special about the rides this week. probably more than anything will be the 9 degrees overnight temp that will catch some people out. don’t say i didn’t tell you to buy your winter kit when we did the last order.

Wait, whut? I’m planning on coming out tomorrow morning! Where is my new bike?
(ps. can someone pls wake me up early? I need to fill my bidons with coffee.. STRONG coffee!)
I might be off the bike at some point, but for slightly-related reasons that I’m trying not to think about at the moment.. =/
….snip, snip? Apparently it doesn’t hurt…much…;-)
Congrats Michael, Raphael and James, James was spotted on the Thurs ride (not that I was there) and Michael is riding tomorrow, it appears having a bub is not an excuse for non attendance on group rides.
Apparently you can sit better on your saddle after snip snip..
You people with kids play that family and kids card so often. At least come up with creative ways of using it.
Congrats on the arrival of the newest rouleurs.
Unfortunately I will not be riding on the weekend as I have to re-trim the training wheels on my daughter’s bike, (Creative enough @nathan)
Oh and my wife has a breakfast to attend on Saturday, and The church of Gym on Sunday.
Oh well, see you on Tuesday.
For el pres…
if Didi is into it we all should be….

Thanks. She came a bit early and took us by surprise. A few dramas but all is good now. She’s a little one – only weighing 2.08Kg – and doing well. She’s a long baby. I’ve measured her femur:leg length and this is exactly that of Lance Armstrong’s. Her Hb (haemoglobin for the non-docs) level was 182g/L (this without CERA/EPO, nor altitude training). She loves to kick and if her body weight to length ratio remains, will be adept at climbing Mont Ventoux or the Zoncolan. I have baby bathing classes this morning and with all the house things to do to get it ready for her (she surprised us remember?), alas I’m unable to join today’s ride, but will be back on soon. So Wongway, the public holiday Tuesday’s ride wasn’t my “last drink”. In fact, to celebrate the new edition, I’m looking for a steel frame with Italian pedigree (Tommassini, Bianchi, De Rosa, Colnago etc) – anyone?
