Oh joy. Cresswell & Herdsman…. that was the route on my first ever ride with SPR some 3 1/2years ago. Got dropped like a stone when we hit Creswell!! Cameron Brook kindly nursed me home. Such great memories… still, I came back the following week for more… I still got dropped…. from the Trannies! Those were the days.

A good friend of mine is reluctantly selling his (almost new) Basso Astra bought just over a year ago. He has a ruptured disc in his neck & if/when he recovers his physio has said he will need to ride something more like a Roubaix so he needs to sell this bike to fund a new one. On Gumtree…[Read more]

The attraction? Riding 110kms of beautiful rolling hills on fully closed roads along one of Australia most iconic ocean highways featuring stunning scenery… along with 5000 other cyclists!

Well done Graham and Anke! i would love to do this ride, but it falls on the weekend of my son’s birthday, well i just have to take the whole family to Melbourne then!

Thanks for the write up, Graham, and great riding by both yourself & Anke. I agree, it is one of the most spectacular routes in the world and is the only opportunity to ride the Great Ocean Road under closed conditions. I have done it 3 times now and will be back again next year. Highly recommended.

This was a good idea but would have been badly executed as while we found several hotels quite prepared to livestream the Tour for us, none were prepared (or able) to play the audio as they have DJ’s and bands playing… would have been a very disappointing experience watching the first hills stage with no sound!

Don’t write off your Home & Contents Policy either Lesley. We only have our bikes covered under our “Home & Contents” Insurance with QBE (through ANZ) but for what it’s worth, my rear wheel was damaged in transit on the way home from the Kalgoorlie Cyclassic & it wasn’t repairable & QBE approved my claim for a replacement within 2 days of my…[Read more]
