DOME pre-opening – tuesday 1st nov

DOME - Westralia Plaza

amongst all the CHOGM news that has been flooding the press lately, you may have heard about another big thing to open in perth.  unfortunately, the queen will not be officially opening the new DOME cafe, but in spr world this is pretty big news.  after months of delays, and us riding around with a non-existent cafe advertised on our kit, we can say that it is so close now, you can almost smell the coffee.

wednesday 2nd nov is the big grand opening with saturday 5th being our first official ride finish at the DOME.  however, there is more to this post than just free advertising for toby.

on tuesday 1st nov between 7am – 9am, toby wants to test out the staff in a special free breakfast for any spr member.  basically, after the tuesday earlybird ride, you head up to the new DOME and get yourself fed and watered for free.  if you work in the city, feel free to head home first to get changed before making your way to the cafe.  all members have to do is present their cycling australia memberhip card that shows you are a current member of south perth cycle club and you are right to enter.

as this is to test out his staff a day before the grand opening, he would like about 50 or so people to take advantage of it.  the idea is to spread yourselves out around the entire cafe and not just all sit in a group together.  the cafe is 70m long with a mezzanine level as well, so there should be lots of spots to lounge about.

for those that don’t know, the adress is 167 st georges terrace in the shadow of the new bhp building and runs alongside the walkway down to the esplanade busport.

come along and help toby out by eating his free food and coffee.

  1. Hi Pete, thanks for the heads up – and Toby, thanks for the invite. It may have been mentioned before but could you please advise what the parking setup is for our bikes? cheers

  2. Geez if you didnt want me to attend the free breakfast, you could have just said instead of getting Cycling Australia to deny my license renewal. Tough love guys.

PEEEEEETE, why is it saying that my club doesnt allow renewals and that i need to contact my club secretary?

    1. are you guys using the new login details that cycling australia would have sent you??? i just renewed mine online and there were no problems. an email was sent out last week with new usernames and passwords.

  3. I have applied and paid for my license…how do I prove this at the Dome opening or racing (my innocent face my not be totally believable to all) as I guess there is a bit of lag time between paying and receiving your license card?

    1. the signed membership form that i emailed back to you is all you need to show. this acts as a licence until the actual card arrives.

  4. Toby many thanks for using us as guinea pigs… It might be just the motivation I need to get out for a Tuesday morning ride! All the best for your opening week – if the bike parking is anything to go by, this is going to be a “Dome with a difference!”
