Ride Routes 16th – 22nd August

This weekend, we look to have some better weather locally, and there is several big events happening. So hopefully, whatever option is for you, I hope that you find some kms with your name one them.

First up, is the 100th Collie to Donnybrook & Return Cycling Classic Cover. I don’t have the full start list, but we have a number of members heading down to race, including the SPR van (thanks Jon!).

Secondly, the 2025 AusCycling Cyclocross National Championships are on over the weekend in Ballarat. We have Oscar Barratt, Tom Barratt, Anna Schwartz and Mel Raybould over there and racing 💚 – keep any eye on the official website and their Facebook page for updates.

And check back next week for results and photos.

See you out on the bike.

Daniel

Racing this weekend – If you want to race, or get in on the action watching others race, read on.

1. CCC 100th Collie to Donnybrook and Return Cycling Classic

2. PDCC 6 Hour Enduro (30/Aug)

Juniors Ride — Weather looks great on Saturday. However, to take advantage of the warm hours let’s meet at 11.00am.

The plan is to ride this route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/392000717

We will meet under Mt Henry bridge (https://maps.app.goo.gl/LMeTUSjQ71uhrx5i6) near Kerbside Cafe. The ride has a quite tough but short climb in Bicton. There is the option to take the easy way for those who are not up to the challenge.

Beginners are recommended to turn back after we have ridden the first 5 kms when we will have reached Heathcote Reserve.

It is now the time to prepare for the Road State Championship on 30/8 (https://entryboss.cc/races/26314). It is important that the kids could practice a little bit during the week with the parents to get more confidence. During the weekends we will practice some race tactics as much as we can. I really hope we will have a good participation in the event with all the juniors we can. Please make an effort to commit and compete, it is going to be fun and we will have a good chance for several medals!

From the Ride Coordinator — At SPR, we encourage all riders to familiarise themselves with the planned route before joining a group ride. Not knowing the next turn can increase the risk of accidents — for you and others in the group.
