Ride Routes 13th December – 19th December

It was wonderful to see so many Rouleurs at our Christmas social drinks at the Windsor last Sunday. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect afternoon and I’m sure everyone there had a most enjoyable time! Thanks to our Community Development subcommittee for the organisation.

The SPR Survey closed last week and over the next little while the Committee will be working through the results to develop a picture of how members would like to see the club progressing. Thanks to all those who took the time to provide their constructive suggestions…the Committee really appreciates it, and will use your views to guide the club over the next 12-18 months.

There was a prize incentive offered for participation in the survey, and congratulations go to Adrian Emilsen, Paul Cumberworth and Jonathan Wan who each have won a $100 gift voucher for 99 Bikes. If she hasn’t already, Carol will be in touch with you individually to organise your prize.

Don’t forget that next Saturday (20 December) we have our Christmas Ride and Awards. If you haven’t yet made your nominations there is still time. Click the link here – People’s Choice Award nominations. There is an incentive prize for completing that too!

Grand Fondo Training — Reminder that we have published our plans for training toward the Road Nationals coming up in January – read all the details in our previous post Grand Fondo Training and More Grand Fondo Training.

SPR Peaks Challenge 2026 — SPR currently have 10 people participating in the Peaks Challenge, Victorian Alps on 8 March 2026. Dave Morley is coordinating this with some eastern states cycle clubs of which there are another 10+ participating.

This will make it a well-coordinated and supported event with invaluable insights from experienced riders of this event – the ultimate challenge of 235km over 4,000 metres of climbing is some wonderful scenery. You can get more information and / or register your EOI here.

Tour of the Blackwood 2026 — Registrations for the Rotary Tour of the Blackwood River 28 March 2026 are now open. This is an excellent event, with a great community atmosphere and well-marshalled roads- definitely one to consider. If interested you will need to book accommodation as soon as possible as limited availability.

More details in our earlier post. Please register your interest and that of your partner via this EOI.

Road Nationals 2026 SPR EOI — Everyone can be a part of this special experience – choose from the Team Time Trial, criterium or Gran Fondo – register your interest below!

From the Ride Coordinator — Be seen in green.

Sunday Hills rides now start at 6:00am.

This Saturday the Fast and Main groups will be riding a new route: Wanneroo & Kings Park. It will be familiar to those who’ve ridden the Public Holiday North route. However, it is not the same! Please familiarise yourselves with it. The sprint on May Dr ends at the Rio Tinto Naturescape before the roundabout. Use caution when exiting KP and when crossing the road to get to Dome.

Summer has arrived and with it comes the heat. As temperatures continue to rise, wear plenty of sunscreen or other sun protection, and keep on top of your hydration and electrolytes. Red lights are the perfect opportunity to have a quick drink!

Once again, a great effort by riders to present in club kit and colours!
