SPR Peaks Challenge 2026 β SPR currently have 10 people participating in the Peaks Challenge, Victorian Alps on 8 March 2026. Dave Morley is coordinating this with some eastern states cycle clubs of which there are another 10+ participating.
This will make it a well-coordinated and supported event with invaluable insights from experienced riders of this event – the ultimate challenge of 235km over 4,000 metres of climbing is some wonderful scenery. You can get more information and / or register your EOI here.

Tour of the Blackwood 2026 β Registrations for the Rotary Tour of the Blackwood River 28 March 2026 are now open. The Full Tour meanders some 130km through stunning countryside between beautiful Bridgetown and the magical townsites of Balingup and Nannup, and features over 2000m of climbing including a Category 4 ascent toward the finish line. There is also a 65km distance (elevation ~841m) or 30km. New in 2026 is a gravel 88km adventure ride β ebikes included. This is an excellent event, with a great community atmosphere and well-marshalled roads- definitely one to consider. If interested you will need to book accommodation as soon as possible as limited availability.
For more details about the event including accommodation please check out their web site https://www.blackwoodtour.info/. Registration fees go to support community awareness regarding youth mental health.
So SPR can connect interested participants, please register your interest and that of your partner via this EOI.

Juniors Ride β There will be no junior ride this Saturday, as Iβll be spending the weekend with my family in the Stirling Ranges.

Our next ride is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, 16 October at 5:00 PM (location TBC). Iβll confirm the details closer to the date, so please keep an eye on your inbox.
If youβre not yet on our junior mailing list or WhatsApp group, please email us at juniors@southperthrouleurs.com.au.

From the Ride Coordinator β A shout out to the contingent of SPR riders going to Margaret River this weekend for Tour de Cowaramup. Hope it stays dry!
A reminder where the final sprints start on our Saturday routes. Participation is voluntary!
- On Riverside Dr it starts at the blue traffic sign
- On Mounts Bay Rd it starts at the 60kmh sign
- In Kings Park it starts at the yellow structure near the Rio Tinto Naturescape (and ends before the roundabout)
Sprints can be fun, but remember to always stick to the left hand lane. We’ve seen some scary situations when white line fever takes over, and the bunch spreads across the road, with potentially disastrous consequences.
