Just read the article highlighted http://cyclingtips.com.au/2011/09/the-lost-art-of-the-group-ride-2/ Very interesting and addresses a lot of what I’ve been thinking about over the last few weeks of group rides. I did the Cancer ride this weekend I it made me appreciate the value of our club and people who know how to ride as a group.
Unlike the guy on Sunday who was happy to sit behind me for 15km doing 40kph, not knowing what a flick of the elbow was for and refusing to take a turn up front, but was happy to burst away from me when we caught up with his team mates that he’d lost – nice one mate!
Personally I believe Strava has been a cause of some of the problems highlighted in the article, with every section of a ride being dissected and competed for.
Anyway, I’ll stop before this turns into a rant!:)
