Housekeeping: Website Relocation

29 June 2012

Some minor glitches with emails being sent out from the SPR website. For example, if you buy something from the store, you may not receive a confirmation email. This is happening because our server is new, and other email systems think it’s spamming. It will take a couple of days to get this sorted out.

Any questions, issues with the website this week, please call me if urgent 0415 224 363 or email me andrew@mindmap.net.au.

Caution on the Causeway Bridge!

Josh and I were riding on the Causeway and one of the paving slabs on the bike path has been completely removed. It will be on your left heading into the city and is about 1/3rd of the way across the section of bridge between Heirisson Island and Vic Park.

Be careful as you ride into the city tomorrow morning (esp. early in the morning), as there is a hole underneath the slab with some pipes exposed. You will fall if your wheel goes in there.. and there are no warning signs or witches hats.

Training and racing with a power meter- workshop 16 September 2011

Hi everyone,

Cycling WA has organised an early morning (7.30am) seminar provided by Simon Jones, former British Cycling Head Coach.

Would be interesting to those of you who are curious about training with power.

I also have the book “Training and Racing with a Power Meter” by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan.
A fine read too.

See the attached link and email address to RSVP:

Warning : Preston Point Road

I did a “SPR Thursday” ride this morning – yes, I know it’s Wednesday.

Please take note that Preston Point Road requires even more care than the previous posting about the roadworks suggests.

The rains we had yesterday have washed out some big potholes (eg. I think one is about 10″ wide, about 6″ deep). There’s also sand and gravel washed from the potholes around the area all over the road.. So it’s dicey.

The potholes start roughly where the playground on your left as you descend the hill ( Wolsely Road TJ on your right) and there’s another set at the next TJ (Coolgardie Rd). Since it’s well before the roadworks, and we’ll be doing a fair speed down the hill, please take special care here. It will still be dark.

Also don’t forget that after the roundabout, and amongst the roadworks, there is a step up in the road surface of about 1-2″. It hurts and for the younger guys, think of the children you may want to have.

Cheers,

AW
