sprinters – hold your line.

as we have seen recently, there is more than one way to have a crash while riding.  the highest risk area for our rides seem to be when everyone is winding up for the final sprint.  people are tired and may make mistakes but it is important to hold your line.  if you commit to a sprint, go straight and keep on pedalling.  if you run out of puff, don’t stop pedalling, keep going and let everyone else pass you.

more importantly, don’t take risks.  even the pros get it wrong sometimes.

  1. Both Cavendish and Hausler have their heads down and move across towards each other once passing Ciolek (Cavendish does come across alot more than Hausler), it is like a magnet is pulling them together..

The wheels touch and Cav’s wheel just crumples..

    Crazy..

  2. Cavendish sux! And I think that photo caption is mislabelled. If you see the video, Cav’s wheel miraculously becomes round again after that photo. Carbon Fibre is amazing.

  3. the man missile might suk, but no one puts on a better lead out than mark renshaw and the HTC Columbia testosterone train!

  4. A very good reason why I gave up competing in “sprints” on the SPR rides a long time ago. My collarbone is worth much more than the flat white we’re sprinting for

  5. All we need is some outrageous euro SPR kit and even we shall leave Chippolini in his retirment home!!!

  6. Yes, falling off is not fun..

Hence why I have given up racing..

I may give up the coffee shop 1km time trial also..

Next step is to stop riding and sell the bikes..

  7. Give you all a chance to catch up…

I am going to give up road riding, time trialing and mountain bike riding to focus on my wind training… It is the safest form of cycling…

Although that being said, Lennie still managed to fall off…

    Mwuah ha ha

  8. Oy!! I’ve only managed to fall off my wind trainer (or should I say YOUR wind trainer ..) twice in a year, Mr Spinning Fynn. And I put that down to your dodgy equipment.
