Thank you to everyone who came out last night for our Tour of Margaret River 2024 Information Evening. It was a little wet outside but the discussion was a good one. We even had the TOMR Race Director, Brendon Morrison, there to talk through the new format!
Keep your eye out for our EOI which we will be releasing soon.
Thank you to everyone who travelled south for the Tom Lowry last weekend. We had the SPR van at the race and 15 SPR members racing. Well done to the 3 SPR podiums, and thank you to Collie Cycling Club for putting on this classic event.

Canning Road E-Petition — A City of Kalamunda resident has a launched a WA Government petition to make Canning Road safer for cyclists – or create a bypass.
The petition states Canning Road, “is narrow, winding, has no sealed shoulders, frequently no shoulders, high kerbs with steep drop-offs in places, restricted sight-lines, and large trees within 1 metre of the carriageway. Kangaroos cross it.”
“It is unsafe for ALL road users, but particularly so for cyclists.”
It calls for the Government to, “prioritise the remediation of this serious road safety issue,” and calls out, “A designated Cycleway connecting Brockton Highway and Glenisla Road…” as a safer option.
Member for Thornlie Chris Tallentire MLA supports the petition, and shares the concerns about riding on riding on parts of Canning Road.
The petition is here: https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au/…/petitions/24-0003

Juniors Ride — After a short break due to my Munda Biddi adventure for a charity cause, our junior ride resumes in Kings Park on 4 May at 10.30am. We will meet at the DNA tower car park (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qu2gwAsyBu3qoHc7A). This time we will focus on climbing, descending, and cornering skills. Hope to see you there!
From the Ride Coordinator — After some brief rain we are back to dry, albeit, cooler weather this weekend.
After the rains we need to be aware of debris that could have accumulated in the gutters and around drains. When riding in pairs, your positions from the curb should be where the wheels of a car would go. Taking the lane in this way should improve our visibility and hopefully discourage drivers from cutting us off when they’re changing lanes.
Sunday hills riders should be aware of the ongoing roadworks on Bushmead.
IMPORTANT: We have changed the start time of our Sunday Hills rides back to our winter time of 7am. Take note 🥶
