ride routes 8th & 9th may

social day – you may have seen the previous post about our social day.  this is to celebrate our two year anniversary of forming the south perth rouleurs and starting at the coode street carpark.  it is a lunch time event and is an opportunity for your partners and family to meet the other people that you ride with.  kids are welcome but you are welcome even if you don’t have kids.  there will be food, drink and entertainment for the kids so check out the post and rsvp to lisa.  this event will also double as my birthday party as it is only a few days afterwards and organising 2 events so close together would be a pain.

spr accessories – the comments have all been collated for the cycling cap and it looks like michael’s white and my white caps were the clear winners.  i will look at a design that combines the two together to come up with a final.  there were a number of votes for michael’s black version, so we may do a black and white version and you can order either or both.  the spr summer gloves, winter gloves, socks, summer boot covers and winter boot covers will also be included in this order.  keep your eye on the blog for more details.

races – track racing friday night, atta champion lakes time trial this sunday, dardanup open road race next sunday, mtb xc series round 3 – see the calendar for more info and events.

ride routes – nothing too hard this weekend.  the main groups have a slightly convoluted route to take so make sure you have a good look at the map.  sunday fast group has been slightly re-mapped, so if you have downloaded it to your garmin, you may want to check it for any changes.  on sunday both groups will head up welshpool road, but the fast group will take lesmurdie while the main group will continue to the end of welshpool.

  1. Main group may run into road works around herdsman lake as you approach the West Australian Newspapers. I do say may as they have resurfacing all week, not sure if their having the weekend off

  2. Peter: A suggestion for the Creswell Herdsman route. At Daglish, instead of turning left onto Nash, continue down Selby then right onto Stubbs. Then use the new roundabouts a shortway down to get onto railway rd. 3 less traffic lights and a more flowing ride. (This Stubbs/Railway connecting road is not on the map yet)

  3. Pete I am loving all the accesories that are avaliable!! any chance of a nice warm headband for people who have big heads and don’t fit into caps/look silly in them??

  4. Transitioners : – Ronny’s working so I’m going have fun with you folks on Sat.
The roads on the ride route are correct but we’ll reverse the flow through Mosman Pk to keep off Stirling Hwy when it gets busier – ie: we’ll stay on Stirling Hwy all the way down to North Freo and turn off left into McCabe St. and come back via Mosman Park (golfcourse etc). We’ll have a couple of ‘Developers’ joining in – so its essential that for the whole of Stirling Hwy we control the pace, stay together and don’t drop them off the back.
Once into Mosman Pk the pack can let loose & I’ll sit back with any stragglers. We’ll all re-group at the golf-course water tower on Wellington St. and a second re-group just before hitting Stirling Hwy (by the roundabout at the intersection of Richardson Ave & Osbourne Pde). Return to Nedlands via the traditional cycling route along the river from Stirling Hwy (Christchurch) via Dalkeith & Crawley and we’ll see if we can hold off the Main group who could be snapping at our heels by then.
    Cheers Mark _S
