watertower volunteers

Watertower Challenge 2013 Bannernext event and the next lot of volunteers needed.

the watertower challenge is a participation event on the 17th of november that give riders an opportunity to challenge themselves to complete a set course and distance.  as it is within the confines of the city, there are always amenities and facilities around as well as that feeling of not being stuck out in the middle of nowhere.

to assist the running of the event, we need a small number of volunteers to complete 4 main tasks.

  1. registration – bec jenaway, sam flockhart, james ward, chris lilley – set up, sign in teams, hand out race packs, issues instructions, set teams off at intervals, pack up.
  2. feedzone 01 – fiona & amy williams, cameron dawson, bill mitchell – set up, sign in teams, fill drink bottles, hand out gels, pack up.
  3. feedzone 02 (whiteman park) – jason gordan, nathan rzepecki, ivan saracik – set up, sign in teams, fill drink bottles, hand out gels, pack up.
  4. sag wagon – shaw goh – needs to have car and trailer (we could hire if needed) – drive around, pick up people that need assistance.

the sag wagon driver will be paid for the use of fuel and we may hire a trailer if needed.  last year, some of the rego team doubled up and looked after feedzone 01 as well.  i will be taking the tents etc to the rego and the feedzone 01, but feedzone 02 will need to get everything off me the day before.

this year the event is open to anyone and we have already have 60 people registered (last year we had 40, now hoping for 100+).  it is an opportunity to attract new people to organised club riding and so we need to put on a good event.  add your name to the comments and let me know where you can help out.

  1. I and Sam will be will be happy to be sag wagon and feedzone 1. Have a 5+2 seater and should be able to organise a trailer.

    1. ooops just re-read it and I see that sag wagon cannot do feedzone as well. So we can do the sag wagon and will have car & trailer. Are those old SPR banners still around to paste all over the trailer?

  2. I am happy to spend a few hours at Whiteman Park and I will have my able assistant Bickhon Frise Poppy there as well. Please tell me a time you want me there.

  3. Happy to collect things during the week and set up / registration for Sat morning, however need to leave around 9am to go do kids duties else where.

  4. just finalising things now. will put out a roster and tasks list tonight. will also send an email out to everyone so they know. thanks for volunteering. we have 102 riders to look after.
